The morning came faster than what they expected, Lelyah woke up and started her morning routine, it was a beautiful day thankfully. She decided to wear a light indigo color dress with the usual white overall dress and a black coat. She put her hair in a bun with some loose strings at the front and holding a piece of hair there was the same hair pin Lelyah had given Anne the day before. She bought both hairpins during one of her family trips, she wanted to give it to someone special and she knew giving it to Anne was the right choice.

she went downstairs and there she found her father in the kitchen, the phonograph was playing a light jazz.

“Good morning” she said, she was going to kiss her father’s cheek but he took some steps back before she had the chance to do so.

“Sorry baby, your mom seems like she catched a cold, so we don't want to risk you getting one too,” her father explained. They talked for a bit and he eventually left to give his wife her breakfast, Lelya finished her breakfast, fastly washed her plate and left for school.

She was a bit earlier than usual so she waited for Anne to come to the usual spot where their paths cross to walk to school together, and she wanted to make sure she was wearing the hairpin.

“Lelyah!” she heard Anne call her name, she turned around and this time she was accompanied by another girl she remembered seeing in class yesterday.

“Good morning Anne” Lelyah greeted her, “Good morning to you too, I'm afraid we haven’t met properly.” She approached Diana this time.

“I’m Diana Barry, nice to meet you” she presented herself while they shaked hands.

“Lelyah Ivanov, it's also a pleasure to meet you Diana”

They start their walk towards the school and they keep chatting, getting to know each other a bit more. After a friendly argument between Lelyah and Anne about how Anne should wear the hairpin and there's no reason for her to be embarrassed that she had to cut her hair, Anne finally gave in.Diana seemed quite happy to see the interaction between both of them and she got a liking for Lelyah, she saw her as very nice and kind girl.

They finally approached the school and they saw the other students going in. They went in to hang their coats and other stuff. Since Lelyah was sitting on the boy’s side she also had to hang her things there.

“You two are matching today.” She heard the boy beside her say, he was hanging his coat and she noticed it was the same boy she was sitting next to.

“After all those horrible comments, I wanted to cheer her up,” she took her scarf off and left it hanging there and went to sit. Gilbert followed right behind her and sat down he was interested in keeping the conversation going, “Im Lelyah Ivanov, pleasure to meet you, since we are going to be classmates and sit together it would be good to get along”

“Gilbert Blythe, it's also a pleasure to meet you Lelyah, welcome to avonlea.” he said raising his hand to what seemed like a handshake, she took it not thinking much of it but he then kissed her hand lightly, “how are you taking everything, doesn't seem like you moved in the best time of the year, it's cold outside.”

“It is quite cold but it’s not the worst, I used to live in a village for some time, that was much colder” she said “but you must be used to it,have  you lived here all your life?”

“Yes, I was born here but I have always loved to travel, just recently I came back after being away for some time.”

“Ah...” she laughed lightly “That explains all the commotion from yesterday”

“You have quite an accent, never heard it, it's quite nice” he complimented her “where are you from?”

He tried to ask more and get to know her but right then Mr. Phillips walked in, they all sat in their seats and the lesson began.

The class began normally from time to time there would be some whispers and side glances to Lelyah. Since she left so abruptly yesterday, and the teacher didnt even bother to present her, she was still a stranger.

Lunch time finally came, Anne and Dania approached Lelyah so they could go and sit with the rest of the girls. Gilbert wanted to have lunch time with her anc chat a bit more but he wasn’t going to intervene when she was going to make friends. He simply went with his normal routine.

“Common Lelyah, we’ll present you to everyone” Diana told her while pulling her hand to the group of girls seated together in a corner.

“Girls...” Anne announced, trying not to smile so much because of her excitement “This is Lelyah, she moved recently to that beautiful house nearby.” She couldn’t hold it back, Anne’s smile was like a child’s on christmas eve. They sat down to be face to face with the rest of the girls.

“Lelyah, these are Jane Andrews, Josie pye, Rubi Guillis, and Tillie Boulter” Diana introduced each one of them and they all replied with a small smile and a hi.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you all,” Lelyah said softly with a smile.

Lelyah was not like the girls in front of her, that must have been expected it since she had a particular education given her by her parents, having known so many new a different people and cultures or having move to so many different places, or the fact the she loved reading and all the things that trapped her attention she got the opportunity to know them all, her free, kind, and sotisficate nature that had made her more mature to the eyes of others. She had her childish and playful side that she was not embarrassed to show but overall that people could see that she was a delightful young lady.

“Either way we have to make something clear Lelyah” Josie pye approached her with a menacing aura. “You must think you’re very clever since you got to sit right next to Gilbert Blythe, you can’t talk to Gilbert”

“You cant even look at him” Tillie added

“Ruby has liked him for three years” she said while holding ruby’s arm “she has dibs”

“So the problem is that I'm not allowed to talk to him because she likes him?”

“Yes!” Josie pye exclaimed and the other girls just agreed. Anne felt bad for Lelyah, she was going through the same thing that happened to her when she first came.

“I have no feeling for Gilbert Blythe, if that’s what worries you.” She said mostly toward Josie Pye and Ruby, “he’s my classmate and there’s no reason for me not to talk to him or not become acquaintances, I wish we can be friends Ruby but if something as ridiculous as this is an inconvenience then I'm afraid a friendship is not possible.” Lelyah was not afraid of standing for herself, and she was definitely not going to back down because of someone like Josie Pye. Something that she inherited from her mother. To say that the girls were shocked by that reaction would be no lie, Josie pye was of course furious that she didnt back down, and her words made Ruby think more clearly about the situation.

“трех лет достаточно, чтобы признаться [1]” she murmured, Lelyah went to her seat and she ate lunch there, if the girls decide to go against her for something like that it was better for her to not even start a friendship with them.

Class continued like normal and it was finally time to go, she was taking her things when Gilbert approached her.

“Can I walk you home?” he asked her, he smiled at her with closed eyes, the girls on the other side were watching and with a gentle smile on her face she answered.

“No” and she walked out of the school.

“Why not?” he said trying to catch up with her

“твое чистое существование доставило мне достаточно проблем! [2]” she said loudly for him to hear her

“I have no idea what you said!” he yelled back while smiling and laughing.
