I put the lid on our cups and Nicki came up next to me, wondering why I have this big smile on my face. I handed her her drink and we sat them down so we could grab the pizza. "What happened?" She asked as we sat down. "I met Kevin Ghost." She nodded and rolled her eyes. She isn't into the same type of music I am so she could care less.
We each took a slice of pizza and my phone started ringing. "Is that Kevin?" She asked. I let it ring and shook my head. "I wish." I sighed.
"You guys haven't talked in years. Do you know what he's doing now?"
"No idea. Last I heard, he joined a band and left California. I've tried many times to message him but he never answered."
"That sucks. You guys were so close!"
"I know! I kind of feel like he wasn't as much of a friend as I thought. With how close we were then to just have him stop talking to me and move on really hurts but I don't know the truth." I took another bite of my pizza and finished it pretty quickly. "Trixie?" I heard. I looked around and saw Kevin from Ghost Town looking at me. "Trixie?" He asked again. "Yes?" I answered with a small smile.
"What high school did you go to?" He asked.
"Lansdowne. Why?" (I just made up a school)
"When did your friend leave?"
"I don't know. A year or two after we graduated." My eyebrows furrowed together in confusion. "Why you ask?" His expression changed. He went from wondering to shocked. "Trixie!" He said loudly with a smile on his face. "I'm confused." I stated.
"Trixie! Its me! Kevin! I'm the one you're talking about!" My jaw dropped. Everything fits together. Bright green eyes, his name, his band, everything. "Are you serious?" I squealed and he nodded. "Oh my god, you look so different. Its a good different but... different." He said.
"I know. You've changed so much too. Change looks good on you, though, not gonna lie. Oh my god, I cant believe its really you." He stood up and came over to me, holding his arms out. I stood up and went to hug him he wrapped his arms around me tighter than I did.
"I'm so sorry I never responded to you. This is just really fucking weird." He whispered, making sure I was the only one who heard. "Dont worry about it now. Its in the past and its nice to see you again." I whispered back. He still hugged me tight before letting go and pulling his phone out. "I need your number now. We are friends again." He laughed and I rolled my eyes and told him my number.
"So what you girls doing here?" He asked while we cleaned up our area, taking our drinks with us and standing around. "We were just about to see a movie. How bout you?"
"We just got back from tour and we were all craving pizza."
"Typical. Well it was good seeing you again. I'll talk to you later I guess. Bye." I said with a smile as we left. We got back in her car and drove over to the movies, throwing our empty drinks away when we got there. "Am I the only one who found it weird how I brought him up then there he was?" Nicki asked. We both laughed a little. "No. Trust me, that whole thing was weird."
(after the movie)
After the movie ended, Nicki dropped me off at my place and I went inside. Before I even opened my door, my phone rang and it was a random number so I didnt answer. I went into my room and took all my accesories off and tossed my shoes in the closet, going into the living room and turning on the tv. My phone rang again but this time it was a text from the same number.
"Answer me you butt. its Kevin."
I laughed a little at his nice hello and saved his contact before calling him back. I put it on speaker and turned on my favorite movie, Moulin Rouge, while being sat on by my cat. After a few rings, he picked up.
"Hey." He said. I could tell he was somewhat smiling. He always had that little hint of happiness when he spoke. "Hey."
"Whatcha doin?"
"Being sat on by my cat. You?"
"Sitting here talking to my best friend."
"That's nice."
"Isn't it? Again, seriously I'm sorry about not answering you back. Getting the band started as soon as I left kept me busy as hell and I never got a chance to respond."
"Its fine, Kev. Don't worry about it anymore. You're in a band now and I didn't help in getting you there. You did it on your own so congratulations."
"Thanks. Do you wanna hang out tomorrow? Catch up a little?"
"Sure. I don't mind. Actually, its only 8. You can stop by now for a little bit. But my cat might sit on you."
"Okay then. Would you mind?"
"Nope. I dont have work tomorrow."
"Alright. I'll swing by. Where do you live?"
"I'll text you."
"Okay. See you soon."
"Alrighty then. Later." I hung up and texted him my adress, getting up and looking out over the balcony for him.
Few minutes went by and I got a call from him. "Hello?"
"Hey. I think I'm here. Mind standing outside so I see you?"
"Yeah, sure. Be there in a sec."
I grabbed my keys and headed downstairs, waiting on the sidewalk in front of the doors. A light blue car that looks almost new parked across the street and I saw Kevin get out. He smiled at me and I waved, crossing my arms in front of me. The air was still cold and my bare feet were freezing on the sidewalk. Next time, I'm keeping my shoes on.
"Hey." He said once he crossed the street, hugging me gently. "Hello. Come on inside, its cold." I said we went inside and hopped on the elevator.
"Is your cat cute?" He asked, making me giggle a bit. "He's chubby, all white, and will lay on you. If you find that cute, then he's cute." We both kinda laughed at that and the doors opened. He followed me to my apartment and I opened the door, picking up Sprout and holding him so he doesnt run off.
He shut the door behind him and Sprout looked at him. He extended himself towards him and Kevin smiled, petting him a bit. Sprout meowed before jumping down and running into another room. Kevin sat down on the couch while I asked, "You want anything? Something to drink?" "Nah. I'm good. Thanks." So I sat next to him.
