Coming back to the painful reality

Our time there ended before I expected, even knowing that we spent almost a month and a half there, it was still bothering how quickly the days passed by. I didn't want to leave but I reminded myself I had people waiting for me at home and other stuff to do with them even though I didn't want to.

Our trip back home felt shorter than the way to the village, it was like seeing how quickly the forests and the mountains disappeared from our views and left behind just a few trees alone waiting to get reunited with its others. The only thing keeping me relaxed was feeling Nathe's breath and caressing his soft hair while he was sleeping on my lap. But besides, coming back to my neighborhood was making me a little anxious and restless than when we left. I needed to spend more time sitting in the garden listening to the birds sing as soon as the sun rose up after so many hours.

I took the book I bought at one of the village's libraries and opened it where I left it. When I began reading, I left myself to get distracted and get submerged in its pages and its magical plot. That's when my mind finally decided to stop for a few minutes and let me be immersed inside those hundred pages and just feel how my imagination was visualizing every scene and conversation.

The train finally stopped after a few hours and I could hear some screams of happiness and steps running towards its respective families, I wasn't going to be one of them, I didn't want to come back from one of the most beautiful places I ever knew.

- Did we arrive? -. Nathe asked, rubbing his eyes.

- Unfortunately, yes, we just arrived -. I said looking at how he stretched himself.- I wish holidays would be eternal -.

- Me too, I won't be able to support another bloody year at school -. He said getting up and taking our bags.- But it's what we have to do, come back to reality and count once again until another rest -.

I yawned, left the book inside my bag, and stood up, Nathe handed me my other suitcases and, while holding our hands, we got off the train. The warm and claustrophobic air we received when we stepped out of the train's gate made me lose my breath. This time I didn't expect to miss something I just left behind me less than twelve hours ago.

- Do you know who's coming for us? -. I asked Nathe while taking a look around in case I saw one of my parents.- I don't remember telling my parents when I was coming back -.

- I don't have any idea -. He said looking around too.- But I did tell your parents when we were arriving, this time I didn't forget about it -.

- Oh -. I said, regretting the fact this time I was the one who forgot about something important.- Well, maybe we can go by bus -.

- Bloody hell, maybe we should travel on those awful transports -. He said while we were walking towards the station's exit.

There was certainly no signal from my parents or even my brother running towards me to hug me after so many days, so we went straight to the bus stop and waited for one to come.

When I opened my house's door, everything was calm and clean, there was no brother doing homework, or mom cleaning the shelves, or even my dad making coffee and toasting bread. The only thing alive was Tinsley, who was jumping due to her excitement and barking as if we left for years.

- Hello Tins -. I said caressing her fur and giving her a few kisses on her forehead.- Where's mom and dad? -.

- It's weird -. Nathe said standing where he was and taking a look around.- They're usually here when we come, it doesn't feel right, I don't know why -.

- Yeah, maybe they left for shopping or something else -. I said straightening me and walking across the hall.- Maybe it's better for me to call them -.
