Allyson's POV

Max: There you go, I'm on my way to the restaurant and got caught up because I stumble upon a little girl and she was hurt. I didn't have the heart to just leave her crying. I had to buy her some cupcakes.

I smile at the text that I received.

I'm sitting in the restaurant where I'm about to meet the first guy I am dating after the whole tragedy happened between me and Will. Max is the son of Mr. Jefferson who happens to be my dad's business friend. I have known Max ever since high school because he is my brother Archie's friend. We never had a chance to be close because he went to study in United Kingdom and stay there to build his company. He also recently seated as the CEO of their family business.

The day could've been ruined without this cute text. Just few minutes ago, William approached me for the first time after few months of not seeing him. The last time I saw him was when he followed me at the lake and I don't even wanna start to remember that moment because it just ruins my mood. Ever since Will  left me at the altar, I only feel hatred and hurt towards him. He chose Sydney over me, so this time, it's time to choose myself rather choosing anyone else.

I will always love Will, it won't change that fast but I think when he chose Sydney, that was the time he finally chose what he really wants in life. Paul said that Sydney is gone but until when? Will's memories hasn't come back yet, and possibility of his memories coming back is nearly impossible now.

A soft touch on my shoulder drifts me back to the reality.

Max.

"Sorry, it took me so long." He smiles as he sits on the opposite side of the table.

I shake my head, "How was the little kid?" I ask.

"She was adorable. Thankfully, she stopped crying when we walk to the nearest bakeshop. She actually invited me to her recital."

"So someone beat me on dating you first." I joke.

He laughs, "Yes, it was love at first sight, I guess." He beams.

When the waiter came to our table, I let him choose the food and be the lead. He decided to eat truffle pasta matched with the most expensive white wine they have in the restaurant. Apparently he is a wine connoisseur and he knows his wines better than any man I know. Archie has the hobby of wine tasting too but I didn't know his friends share the same hobby that he has.

"Archie told me you're going to move to Portland." He asks while placing his wine glass on the table.

"Just for a while until I get to deal with the issues that we have in the Portland branch."

"So you will be seeing more of me then." He smirks.

I frown, "How?"

"One of my offices is located in Portland, I could use some transfer there. I get bored at times." He says. I know Archie is trying to set us up and I can't blame him; Max is the most eligible bachelor I know and my friends kept on telling me we are a perfect match.

"That will be cool coz I won't be having any friends there." I say.

"Now you have one." He winks.

After dinner, he drove me back to my apartment and when I came back, Dana is waiting for me.

"So, how's your date?" She asks.

I sit on the bar stool, watching her fix some cocktails.

"I saw William." I say and she almost drops the bottle of whatever liquor she's holding.
