It's been days since Will woke up from a two week coma caused by the accident. I've been visiting him every day but still, he hasn't remember any bit of a memory of me. The doctor said that there's a low chance of possibility that he will be able to remember everything; there's a part in his brain that got affected by his injuries causing him to forget his current memories and only able to retain few from his past. He also said that Will is lucky that he didn't lose all of his memory because most people who has the suffered traumatic head injuries tend to forget everything even their ability to do simple things like speak and move.
At this very moment, I cannot complain. My fiance is alive but right now, he doesn't remember me as his fiance or should I say, he doesn't remember me at all.
When I entered his room, Paul was there talking to him.
"Hi." I greet.
Paul smiles and excuses himself. I helped him to the door and asked me to stay behind.
"I brought peaches." I say to Will, placing a basket full of peaches in his bedside.
He doesn't talk to me that much and it feels like I am a complete stranger to him.
"You know, peaches are your favorite. You like to eat them with pie but I didn't have time to bake some so I just bring peaches instead." I say with smile-a fake smile-which I recently practiced to paint in my face. "Do you want me to peel one for you?"
He shakes his head, "No. It's okay."
The doctor told me that he might remember something if we tell stories from time to time and so I decided to work on my skills as a storyteller. I sit beside him bed and hold his hand which he managed to pull away again.
"Since the day we started dating, you always give me three full bloom red roses and you always say that you just saw an old lady selling them so you bought them coz you don't want the old lady to get tired." It was a joke that he always say. "I always ask you why it's three, I thought because it meant I-Love-You but you said, it only takes three minutes for you to fall in love with me over and over again." I smile.
He looks at me with worry in his eyes which I know what exactly what it meant. He feels sorry for me, looking like an idiot trying to make him remember things that he cannot probably recall anymore.
"It's okay, you don't have to force yourself. I will stay with you to tell you stories about us. I'm sure you might remember small details of it someday."
Someday.
Or never.
"Sorry." He mutters.
My heart melts. I wanted to cry but I was saved by the knock on the door.
While the nurse is taking her rounds, Dana and Paul enters the room.
Dana and Paul didn't have a problem of getting along with Will because Paul is his brother and Dana grew up with them so he knows them very well.
"Do you want to get something to eat?" Dana asks.
I shake my head, "I'm not hungry." I assure her.
"You haven't slept, you've been eating nothing, your stomach has only coffee in it. You need to take care of yourself." Dana whispers.
I have been staying in the hospital almost 24/7. I haven't left his side ever since he woke up. I took an indefinite leave from the office which my parents are not in favor of but they didn't stop me from doing so.
"She's right." Paul utters.
Dana pulls me out of the room and drags me to the cafeteria inside the hospital. She asked me to sit as she gets us food.
