Maya Carter

6:24 am

Personally, I don't sleep.

My mind has this scary capability of being downright dark and twisted and because of this I get told that I'm crazy, out of my mind. Don't get me wrong, I don't try to defend myself, the people that say that are completely right.

Of course I'm out of my mind, it's scary in there.

It's been a few hours since Kaylah fell asleep, and it may sound creepy but I've just been sat watching her. She looks so at peace when she sleeps, so much natural beauty and she doesnn't even know it.

I'll admit, she's beautiful.

I reached out my hand to touch her face, but stopped myself. I can't have her no matter how bad I want her.

Instead, I felt around my pockets in search for my phone, my heart dropping when I couldn't find it. I definitely had it when I left the bunker, and I was sure I had it when I came here, so where the fuck was it?

Then again, I was pretty fucked when I got here, I could have lost the damn thing anywhere. Quietly, as though not to wake Kaylah, I manouvered myself so I could stand up and look for my phone, allowing myself one last look at her before moving away.

As I scanned the room a bulky object on Kaylah's desk caught my eye. My phone. Kaylah must have taken it out my back pocket when she was cleaning me up. How thoughtful. Grabbing it off the desk, I powered on the device, willing it impatiently to turn on.

Once it had, I scrolled through the newly loaded notifications.

15 missed calls from unknown caller

"Shit." I growled, then remembered where I was, covered my mouth and looked over at Kaylah, who thankfully seemed undisturbed by my outburst. She always was a hard sleeper.

Walking into the bathroom, I gently shut the door behind me before sitting down on the toilet and redialling the number. After 4 rings the phone was answered, but as expected no one spoke first. "It's Maya." I said, knowing they were waiting for confirmation of the caller.

"Where have you been man? Gio has a job for you." The voice came down the phone, it was Coby.

"Sorry bro, I got fucked last night, and well you know how that goes."

"Oh shit, how bad this time?" Sounding genuinely concerned.

"Few cuts and bruises, nothing bad. Oh and I came to Kaylah's."

"You went to who?! Maya what the heck man?!"

"Nah chill out I didn't do anything to her, I just came, she cleaned me up then she fell asleep."

"I saw the way you looked at her at the bar that night, you like the girl, but you can't man, you know you can't."

"Yes, thank you Mr fucking obvious, I do know that and to be honest I don't need to be fucking reminded." I spat out, not even mad at Coby, but mad at myself. Clearly I did need to be reminded, because I was currently sat in the woman's bathroom. "Anyways, what's the job?"

"I dont know, he won't tell me. Just get down here bro."

"Alright, bye." I sighed and peered out the bathroom door. Kaylah had rolled over to face where I had been previously laying, holding the pillow like....like it was a person.

Did she..Did she think that was me? "Is she thinking of me?" I asked myself as I padded out of the bathroom towards Kaylah.

"No, she ain't. Now get your ass down here Hayden, don't bullshit me right now."

"God?" I questioned, stopping in my tracks and looking around like I expected him to appear infront of me.

"No, it's Coby. You never ended the call dickhead, now come on."

"Whatever." I mumbled under my breath, clicking the end call button multiple times to make sure the call ended this time. After looking over my shoulder at Kaylah to make sure she was still sleeping soundly, I slipped through the door, closing it gently behind me.

Hey.

A shorter chapter this time after the last one, and Maya's pov. How do you think she really feels about Kaylah? Is she mean to her because she really hates her, or is there something else...?

If you forgot, Coby was the guy who "introduced" Kaylah to Maya in the bar in chapter 4.

Anyways, until next time :).
