Gabriel handed me a black shrug to ward off the chill of the evening, and we piled into vehicles. Mr. Blackbourne walked me over to North’s Jeep- which had the top on it for a change, and left me with North, Silas, and Nathan. Silas gently grabbed my waist and lifted me into the passenger seat. He reached over and buckled me in, then climbed into the back. Once everyone was in, North pulled away from the curb and we headed out of the neighborhood.

“So, North, where are we going?” I tried to act casual. My guys were in custom fitted suits, I was in a gorgeous dress, and I had no idea where we were going.

North glanced over at me. “To dinner.”

Out to eat? I haven’t had a chance to do that very often. Obviously, it was going to be someplace nice. I’ve never been to a really nice restaurant. I have no idea how to act. “umm… where?”

I must have been biting my lip, because Nathan called out to me from behind North. “Peanut, this is going to be fun. You have nothing to worry about. Be your beautiful self, and we’ll all have a great time.”

“Yes, Aggele Mou, you will enjoy this. Although, I’m not sure why we let Victor pick out the restaurant. Remember last time?” Silas added.

“Last time? Where did Victor pick last time?” Maybe they’ll tell me on accident.

North chuckled. “THAT is a story for Luke to tell. And, no, Baby, we’re not telling you where we’re going. You’re on an adventure. Just sit back and enjoy it, ok?”

I sighed. “No hints? Not even one?” I stuck out my lower lip, just in case pouting might work.

“Oh, hell no, Sang. Really? That shit works on Gabriel, not me. You know better.” North smiled through his little rant.

“Had to try, right?” I grinned at him.

Ten minutes later, North pulled into the parking lot and into a spot next to Victor’s BMW. I looked up at the restaurant’s exterior- very modern, but very Asian. Victor, Gabriel, and Luke waited outside the car for us to join them. Mr. Blackbourne’s BMW sat next to Victor’s but he, Dr. Green and Kota were nowhere to be seen. Nathan jumped out and helped me out of the Jeep. Luke grabbed one of my hands, Gabriel grabbed the other, and they ushered me into the restaurant. Kota waited inside the door.

“So, what do you think, Sang? Ready for some sushi?”

“Some… what?” They want me to eat what?

Luke turned me so that I was looking at him. “Ignore him. You don’t have to eat any of that nasty fish if you don’t want to. This is also a hibachi restaurant. Much better. And it’s cooked.”

He held my hand and followed Kota through the restaurant to an odd looking table. There was an enormous grill-top on one side, with a granite bar going around three sides of the grill. 10 chairs well pulled up under the three sides of the table. Mr. Blackbourne and Dr. Green rose from their seats at the table as we approached them. Mr. Blackbourne pulled out the chair in the middle of the long side of the table for me, and I sat down. Everyone else claimed a seat. North sat on my left, and Silas on my right.

I looked around, but there was so much to take it. A large vent hung over the grill. I noticed that there were several other tables just like this scattered around the restaurant. The décor was understated Japanese- just a hint, here and there. Dark wood, flowing curves. It was a beautiful room.
