It was a sunny spring afternoon when Gabriel left. It wasn’t one of his normal leaves, no. It was something more… hateful. But also sad. Tears stung in his eyes and he walked down the road, away from the motel, away from the Winchesters, away from Sam.
Sam had tried reasoning with him, Gabriel didn’t listen though. This is what he got for loving a human. Selfish creatures that do everything for themselves and nothing for others. Gabriel muttered to himself as he pushed away the tears, continuing down the road.
Sam had been horrible. Sam had gotten drunk, but in the right of mind. Sam had cheated on Gabriel with some blonde chick that managed to break them up. He didn’t see her again after that one night, but when Gabriel found out he wasn’t pissed like Sam had thought he would be. He looked like he was about to sob, but he didn’t. Gabriel wasn’t like humans. Emotions didn’t stop him.
The Archangel walked three blocks before he couldn’t keep it together anymore. The walking hadn’t been calming as he thought it would be. Gabriel appeared in his apartment and collapsed on the bed, shoulders shaking in silent sobs.
Once he composed himself he sat up, eyes red and puffy. Without thinking, he grabbed his angel blade and aimed it at his heart. This time he wasn’t going to fake it. Not anymore. This was the final run, away from home and away from his issues. Though it was the wrong choice, he made it.
Gabriel sent a message on angel radio with one word. One simple word.
Goodbye
And then, no one heard of Gabriel again. Sam mourned over his death, knowing that he caused it. Even God made an appearance once Gabriel was buried. When no one was around, God kneeled by his son’s grave.
He dipped his head in sadness and despair. His own son killed himself, over a human nonetheless. Gabriel was destined to do so much more. A Winchester. But, the damages to Gabriel were so severe to bring him back. All because of the Winchester’s foolishness.
Gabriel was buried six feet underground, with a gravestone reading
Gabriel ?-2015 Taken by a foolish mistake.
