There we were, sitting down in the bathroom, talking as if we were friends. Who knew I'd be opening up and talking about the worst moments of my life to the guy who has been nothing but mean to me in these past weeks. But this time he wasn't annoying me nor criticizing me, he was listening carefully and actually being supportive. He wasn't talking much yet, but I could see in his eyes that he was being sympathetic.
- "I had no idea you've been through so much"- he says
- "No one does, not in Hogwarts at least, only Noah."
- "The guy who helped you and let you stay with him?"
- "Yeah, that one. He's my best friend since we were kids. If it wasn't for him I wouldn't be here now."
- "Maybe you shouldn't... be here" - he says with a worried look
- "Why's that? You think I should have died instead of Cedric too?" - I ask, worried
- "N-no, not that." - he pauses - "This wasn't supposed to be happening."
- "What are you talking about? What wasn't supposed to be happening"
- "This! You and me! You should be hating me!" - he says frustrated
- "What? Draco I never hated you. I didn't like your attitude but didn't hate you."
- "Well you should!"
- "Why?"
- "Because..." - he starts talking but stops. I notice he's tearing up.
- "Are you alright Draco?"
- "I'm fine." - he lied as he took a deep breath and tried to cover up his emotions
- "I know you're not. Do you want to talk about what's bothering you?"
- "I c-can't handle this a-anymore..." - he talks in a weak breaking voice
- "Handle what?" - I put a hand on his shoulder
- "We s-shouldn't b-be talking." - he changes the subject
- "Why not?" - I look at him worried
- "I've n-never been any g-good, you should be hating me"
- "Don't say that, I'm sure you're not that bad, there's kindness in you."
- "No, n-not at all... I'm just like my father" - he says and swallows loud, nervous.
- "I don't know your father but I'm sure that's not true, you are your own person Draco. I know you can be good."
- "Y-you don't k-know me. I s-should be dead."
- "Why do you say that?" - I ask, now a bit in shock
- "T-this" - he says and raises his sleeve, showing the dark mark on his left arm
- "Oh..." -I hesitate for a while before talking again - "But that doesn't mean your evil. I can see by your reaction that you didn't want to be a death eater, correct?
- "N-no but I d-didn't have a c-choice. I- I have It since 1 was one, i-it Was made before He vanished suddenly.
- "I'm sorry to hear that, I had no idea." - I pull him into a hug - "See? You're not evil, you were forced to get it."
- "I'm sorry for everything" - he speaks up after a moment of silence and pulls his sleeve down again, covering the mark
- "That's okay, don't worry about it. But may I know the reason behind your change of heart?"
- "Yes... My dad, he hates everyone who isn't pureblood, in Slytherin and who likes muggles." -- he takes a deep breath and prepares himself to start talking.
