One Hell Of A Bite

Chapter 7

Life has a plan for us all. It may not be what we want or even expect. We just have to remember that in times of storms. It’s more fun to dance in the rain, then it is to complain about it as we look out the window.

Chapter 7

Genesis found herself alone for the first time in her life. It wasn’t fair, life wasn’t fair. That was a lesson she would soon learn, for her Abuela hadn’t been in the ground long before the vultures descended.  The children from Abuelos’ first marriage had come to fight what they considered rightfully theirs.

Genesis sat cross-legged as she rubbed her temples. “Once again Genesis. That stupid temper of yours has managed to get you in a bind. Only this time, there is no one that can help you.” She wrapped her arms around herself and just started to rock back and forth as she remembered the big fight.

“My mother and father built this house.” Her mama’s stepsister yelled as she waved her hands encompassing everything in sight.  “You shouldn’t get a penny of the inheritance, since all of it came from our father. Your mother was not even his child.”

Genesis tried her best to not cry over their injustice. Yet they had a point. She knew that her Abuela had married her Abuelo and had brought with her a daughter, from a previous marriage. “What is it that you people want? We have not seen or heard from you in years. Yet here you are now.”

“”We want the house and whatever money was left from my father’s estate when he passed on.” Her mama’s stepbrother said. At this point Genesis was heartbroken and upset so she just walked out of the kitchen and headed for her bedroom. If they wanted the house and everything in it, then everything they would have. She packed her bag and was happy her camping gear was still in the trunk of her car. The previous week she had been forced to go on a spiritual retreat with the church.  Right about now, a spiritual retreat was what she needed. She smiled as she thought back to the day her Abuela told her that since she was to be a nun. There was no need to leave her anything materialistic when she passed on. So her Abuela had told her lawyer that it was all to be donated to the church and all the paperwork was drawn up to reflect her wishes..

They were all in for a big surprise. So Genesis called the lawyer and told him she would not be at the reading and would be away for a while because she needed to get away from the drama her Abuelos kids will cause.
