So That weekend they found themselves going back to the magical bird's abode. Tired by continuously escaping the glare from their music teacher and questions from all other teachers plus their fatigue due to not being able to get the main source of the bacteria, they decided they could use some distractions for a day.
The word that they withdrew from the two co-curricular activities travelled around pretty quickly. False rumours started adding up to the actual incident throwing them in the lime light.
"I almost forgot the Magic of the place... right from the entrance." Sana whispered looking at the purple flowers glow.
There was a sudden gush of wind and the path was made which they followed to soul. It had a refined freshness, but they were not able to pinpoint what exactly was so special. Or maybe it was just their exhaustion over the week.
"Soul.." Momo whined "we are so exhausted"
"The antidote to exhaustion is wholeheartedness, you are exhausted because all of the things you do are just busyness."
"Someone is very chirpy today!" Jungyeon comented.
"We don't even know what we even did to be this exhausted." Chaeyoung said sitting on one trunk.
...
One fine day when they were visiting her suddenly nine trunks surrounding the cage appeared out of the ground."We literally come here to talk to a bird... In the middle of a forest, no one has been here even though this university is almost a 100 years old, this is something that should be normal to us by now" Nayeon deadpanned.
"Now you can easily sit down while here"
......And so here they were sitting.
"It's been some crazy months." Sana pointed out in the middle of the conversation "winter is approaching fast""Yeah... we have to admit, that we are a very tight knitted group of friends by now." Chaeyoung said as everyone agreed.
"Guys let's not forget that our competition is also fast approaching." Jihyo meddled in the growing sentimental mood.
"We have been practicing various songs and ballads, but haven't made any progress with composition or lyrics." Nayeon stated.
"Oh, I know!" Dahyun exclaimed "Let's visit the library today after lunch and find some inspiration for our lyrics."
......~~
"There's nothing here." Momo said slumping her head on the table of the library.
"Well you won't get anything if you don't read at all." Tzuyu said turning pages of a book.
"But if we think about it..." Nayeon who was leaning back on her chair, right beside momo said "we anyways won't have enough time to study every book in music"
A book came smashing in her head from behind.
"You haven't read a single page yet" Jungyeon Was Standing in front of her.
"Oh... Then have you become Mozart yet?" Nayeon retorted.
While there was a war about to begin at the reading section, Mina and Chaeyoung wondered into one of the most isolated sections of the library.
"Will we even find anything useful here?" Mina whispered into pure silence.
Both of them batting dust, with covered faces, moved further into abyss.
"I am looking for a particular book which must be here, I saw it in the records " Chaeyoung said.
" And what is the name of this book, you are so desperately searching for?" Mina asked.
"A crash course on making music in case you're in trouble with your teacher." Chaeyoung replied.
Mina stopped in her tracks. Chaeyoung turned.
"What happened?"
"You're joking right?" Mina asked dead serious.
"I know... It sounds ridiculous, but believe me it's real." Chaeyoung whined.
Mina narrowed her eyes, "I have never heard of this book. "
"That's because there's only one copy, and it was written by one of the alumni ages ago." Chaeyoung said.
They traveled to the very end of the last aisle, and searched.
"Not on the last shelf." Mina dusted her hands, there was a lot of dust flowing around from moving the books that were not moved for decades.
Chaeyoung coughed As she moved the dust particles with her hands.
"Let's search a bit more"
Mina sighed at her friend's stubborness. "There are plenty of books why does she want that particular one?" Mina murmured in Japanese as She randomly picked a book from the second last shelf because it had a very beautiful cover.
"A quick guide to music composition in case you're in trouble with your teacher." Mina read the words printed on the very first page.
Chaeyoung springed up. "you found it?" She hovered over Mina to read the title with her own eyes.
"But you said a crash course, not a quick guide!" Mina stated
"Same thing darling!" Chaeyoung exclaimed. Some one must have used the slang in the records.
They happily came to there friends.
"Yeah! Well I already study enough academic material that I don't have time to study other books, there are some people with exceptional records."
"Exceptional? Huh ! Just admit you are a slow learner, that's why it takes ages for you to complete your academic books."
There was Tzuyu sighing in her seat and jihyo and Sana were trying to voice them down. Momo was already asleep and Dahyun was trying to wake her up.
"Friends!" Chaeyoung exclaimed silencing them for the time.
"Where have you both been?" Jihyo asked.
Mina showed the book to her. "Look what we found."
They all huddled up near the table. "A quick guide to music composition in case you're in trouble with your teacher?"
"That's a big title!" Nayeon laughed.
"And a bit creepy that it just goes in sync with our situation?" Dahyun commented.
"Yeah..." Jihyo said as she picked up the book and dusted it further.
She opened the book and carefully turned the pages, wary of tearing such old yellow pages.
"What? It's just twenty something pages? That's short..." Sana said.
"It's called a quick guide for a reason..." Tzuyu deadpanned.
As Jihyo turned to the last page it was a single small poem written with green ink...
And here is the translated version of the ballad...
