Chapter 12
Meeting The Wolf

I stepped on my deck and cautiously opened my white wooden door. I breathed in the cool minty air, and scanned the room before entering. There was no sign of my mom or the surprisingly tame and calm wolf. No. I can't be thinking about that. That..... thing.... was not my dad. It was.... is an animal. It is just a savage meat eating animal, that has no feelings, no thoughts, or any other human like traits. It was a wolf. Just a wolf. The Wolf.
"Mom..... I'm home," I yelled as I shut the door behind me. No answer. I slipped off my shoes and walked to the kitchen to grab a glass of water. I reached up and opened the small chestnut colored cupboard and grabbed a cup. I swerved around to put it on the table, but as soon as I turned I saw a tall man standing at the other end of the counter! The glass immediately slipped through my sweating hands and fingers. I gasped and backed up into the sink.
The man put his hands up and said
"Oh, sorry, I didn't mean to alarm you," he lowered his hands slightly lower than before. His tone was the first thing that hit me. It was surprised, worried, and had a hint of amusement. I saw the corners of his mouth turn up
slightly as I felt his eyes search mine. I was gripping the edge of the sink so tight that my knuckles were turning white.
"Who-who are you?" I asked my voice shaky and weak. He looked confused. his dark eye brows were pulled together in a thick line and his bright blue eyes were searching mine again. He kept opening and closing his mouth like he was going to say something but then changed his mind.
I didn't know what else too do.
My hand found its way into the dip in the sink and rapped itself around the handle of a large knife. Right before he was about to say something I swiftly pulled the knife from out of the sink and firmly held it with two hands in front of me.
I carefully made my way around the counter and yelled,
"MOM!"
The man put his hands up once again and looked even more surprised than before. What does he think I'm just going to let a random man show up at my house, and not do anything about it? Think again.
"Jersey, settle down," he said gesturing me to put away the knife. I gave him a wide eyed look still holding up the sharp blade.
"Who are you? What do you want?"
He put his hands on the counter and looked as his shoes then back up at me. His lips were pursed and his eyebrows were straight like he was was forming the words in his head.
"I'm the wolf. And I am your dad, jersey, I'm here."
