We try to regroup information for the rest of the day, around 5 pm, I decide to get a break. I walk to the common area to have some peace and sit on a couch scrolling through my phone.
"Excuse me?" A guy talks to me. "Do you work with Jennifer Jareau, by any chance?"
"Oh, yeah, I'm the new girl, excuse me, how can I help you?" I smile back.
"I'm Will, her ex-husband." He says shaking my hand. "JJ has to take care of our two sons tonight and I can't find her. I'm in a hurry, can I let them here with you until she is free?"
"Of course, yeah, no problem." I agree. "What are their names?"
"Henry is the older, Michael is the younger." Will shows me their kids. "They'll be super good; they are not disturbing people usually."
"I bet, don't worry, I'll take care of them." I wink at the boys.
"Thank you so much, tell JJ I say hi." Will leaves with a smile.
"Hey, boys." I high five both of them. "What are you going to do?"
"I've got homework..." Henry sighs. "It sucks."
"I'll help you, big guy, don't worry." I playfully put my hand in his hair. "What about you?" I kneel down to Michael.
"I'm going to play videogames." He says with a baby voice.
"Are you good at it?" I narrow my eyes at him.
"Of course, I am the best of the world." He says proudly and I share a knowing look with Henry.
I send a text message to JJ to let her know her sons are in the building, and I sit down with them. After thirty minutes, while I'm helping Henry with his math homework with Michael on my lap playing videogames, JJ arrives in the common area a bit panicked. She stops suddenly looking at the scene in front of her.
"Hey." I smile to her.
"Is everything alright?" JJ wonders. "Are they bothering you?"
"Not at all, they are really kind and calm. Will was right." I state and she walks to us with a strange look on her face.
"Hey, boys." She smiles earning a hug from Michael and a smile from Henry. "What are you doing?"
"Tori helped me with my math homework, she explains so much better than you or dad, it seems super fun like that." Henry says excitedly while ending his homework.
"And I was playing videogames, Tori said I was reaaally good at it." Michael seems over the moon.
"He is." I wink at JJ and share a look with a smirking Henry. "I'll leave you guys alone. Have some family time, it is important."
I put Michael on the chair I was using, and I say goodbye to the kids. Then, I walk back to the exit followed by JJ.
"Thank you for taking care of them." She smiles. "It means a lot."
"I know, don't worry, it was my pleasure." I smile back. "They are actually super cool; I keep wondering how is this possible seeing who their mother is... Surely something to do with the father." I fake thinking.
"How dare you?" JJ fakes being shocked before laughing it out. "Do you want to have dinner with us?"
"It is very tempting, but you need to spend time alone with them, maybe another day." I wink at her, and she nods.
"Of course, thank you." JJ hugs me and I kiss her temple softly.
"Enjoy your night, love." I whisper in her ear. "And don't let Michael eat all the chocolate in the fridge." I state looking over at the little boy in the fridge.
"Holy shit, Michael." JJ realizes. "Good night, Tori." She quickly turns to me and then back to her sons.
"Good night, guys."
