-Twenty Years Later-
The Moon Princess opened her eyes. The first thing she saw was the Sun Prince who was sleeping beside her. Smiling, she reached out and gently placed her hand on his whiskered cheek as to not wake him up. Last night was tiring for both of them. His parents were away yesterday and they had sections of the castle all to themselves. They would of had the entire castle to themselves but Hinata still had to stay hidden. It was a wonder she was able to go so long without getting caught. Yesterday was Hinata's birthday, so Naruto had planned an entire day of festivities. Hinata caressed Naruto's cheek in content. She was content for now and it was all thanks to Naruto. Years ago, the Moon Princess had fallen in love with the Sun Prince. Hinata Hyuga fell in love with her best friend, Naruto Uzumaki. Best friend. Hinata stilled her hand. It seemed that friends was all they would ever be. Hinata didn't know if Naruto ever viewed her as something more.
There were moments when Naruto did something that made Hinata think that maybe, just maybe he felt something more for her but then he pulls away and her hope shatters. Hinata gathered her entire courage to confess her love right now.
"Naruto, I love you." she whispered placing all her feeling in her confession.
A tan hand wrapped around Hinata's hand making her eyes widen.
"N-N-Naruto." she stuttered.
"I'm glad because I love you too." Naruto confessed with a bright smile and blue eyes expressing his happiness.
Hinata's breathing began to get shallower and her eyes rolled back as she fainted in Naruto's waiting arms. Naruto chuckled and shifted, so he was sitting up on the bed leaning against the headboard with Hinata safely held in his arms. Naruto lifted one of his hands to stroke Hinata's beautiful indigo hair. He let his fingers slide through her long tresses enjoying the feeling of her smooth hair.
"I know you're awake." Naruto said.
Hinata opened her eyes but made no move to escape from his arms.
"You're probably thinking what you heard was a dream. Well, it's not. Hinata Hyuga, I love you."
Tears gathered in Hinata's eyes. She waited so long to hear those words from him. They both began to lean towards each other and their lips met. Naruto's hands tangled themselves in Hinata's hair while Hinata wrapped her arms around Naruto's neck.
The door opening had them separating from each other in shock. Both turning their hands, they saw Naruto's parents at the door with shocked faces. All of them stayed in silence. Hinata and Naruto were afraid to speak first.
"Naruto." Naruto's mother, Kushina, said with a calm voice and expression that sent fear into Naruto.
Hinata held on tightly to Naruto's hand in comfort and to draw strength from it. Naruto's father didn't say anything and his face betrayed nothing, but he held a calculating look.
"Please, Lady Kushina, allow me to explain." Hinata said standing up blocking Naruto from his mother. "This wasn't Naruto's fault. I wanted to come here. Please, if anybody is to blame then place the blame on me. Punish me not him."
"No." Naruto said standing up beside Hinata and taking her hand all the while facing his parents. "Punish me. Not her."
"Naruto." Hinata whispered turning to face her love.
A smirk flashed on Naruto's face. "I made a promise long ago that I would protect you. You're not getting away from me. Especially now. I won't allow anybody not even my parents to take you away from me."
Kushina and Minato exchanged a look.
"Naruto, you know she cannot be here. This is not her home." Kushina softly said with a sad look in her eyes. Her son was in love there was no doubt about it.
Naruto and Hinata didn't say anything. They never spoke about this except that one time when Naruto said on the next Eclipse she would return home. That was then before they truly knew each other. Before they became best friends. Before they fell in love. Reality struck them hard. They were from two different worlds. Naruto belonged with the sun and Hinata belonged with the moon. Their love was never meant to happen.
"We will leave you two to talk alone." Minato sensed the importance of the situation.
Kushina walked out the door with her husband beside her. Both of them couldn't help feeling sorrow at their's son's love problem.
Hinata hugged Naruto tightly to her as if she would never be able to again. Sadness began to wrap around both of them and neither could stop the tears from leaving their eyes.
"I don't want to leave you." Hinata cried.
"Then don't. You can stay here. First, we'll tell your parent's and family and then you'll return back here and on every eclipse we will visit them and we'll be happy." Naruto thought up their plan desperately.
"I don't belong here Naruto. I don't know if I can stay away from my family for so long."
"Then I'll stay with you in your world." Naruto decided.
Hinata shook her head. "I can't take you away from your family. I don't think my family would ever allow our love to continue."
"It's not fair." Naruto whispered tightening his hold on her and breathing in her enticing scent that always managed to calm him but right now it didn't work.
Kushina couldn't help the small tear that trailed down her cheek as she stared at her husband in sorrow. "Is there anything we can do, Minato?"
Minato shook his head. "The Hyuga are a proud family. Hiashi is unyielding on certain things and I don't think his wife can sway him on this. Not only that but our worlds will always be separated. Either Naruto and Hinata both stay here or they stay over there."
Kushina felt her emotions divide. She didn't want her son to leave them for an entire century. It was too long yet she could see her son's love ran deep.
"Then there is no other way. Hinata will go back to her family. Naruto will stay here. Maybe in time, they will move on." Kushina said not wholly believing Naruto could ever move on.
Naruto and Hinata were inseparable and they knew continuing this love would only bring more heartbreak, but they couldn't stop themselves. Their love grew and nobody could stop it.
