When the leaves began to fall from the trees, it was officially training season.

"Autumn is the perfect season to brush up on one's training. You won't get sweaty as you would in the summer, and you won't be cold initially as you would in the winter."

Linna was walking to the Academy's training center with Quistis, ready to initiate the fall section of training.

"Be that as it may, Ms. Trepe- and this is probably my foreign-ness showing- why does it matter when, in Balamb, the temperature changes a maximum of, like, three degrees year-round?" asked Linna.

"Linna, you haven't even been in Balamb for a year." Quistis laughed. "In the winter months, it gets as cold as 50 Fahrenheit, you know."

"50? Ha, you guys would never last in Trabia." Linna laughed this time.

"Well, I probably would; I have Estharian blood, but I know what you mean." Quistis swiped her personnel card, and opened the door. "Today, you'll be having your friends to train. Leiria is visiting, and she's expressed a desire to practice, and of course Leviesse and Gale will be with her. In addition, Aurelie and Nora want to train as well."

"Okay, sure. Question: can I immediately take five if Gale and Levi start making out in front of everyone?"

Quistis laughed again. "I'm sure that won't be a problem."

"Are you entirely sure? Because I'm, like, majorly sure this is a real issue." Linna crossed her arms.

When Quistis ignored her, Linna sighed. Maybe if she was hard enough on them, they wouldn't have time to devour each other's faces.

Linna went to clean a few of the weapons in the holding area, and when she came back to the room, Leiria was waiting for her. The room had been changed to an oceanside, and Leiria sat on a large, black rock, her hair gently blowing.

"Afternoon, Oliveira," Linna saluted her. "It's been a while."

"Oh, hi, Linna." Leiria smiled. "I guess it has..."

She stood up then, and walked over. Linna was always jealous of Leiria's build. Tall and skinny, but not flat. Not that Linna herself had a problem with flatness, but...

"I haven't been practicing weapons whilst I've been in Esthar because Miss Floriane insists that I work on regulating my magic- so, my skill has probably suffered. I'm sorry."

"Why are you apologizing? Magic or weapons, as long as you can defend yourself, it's all good." Linna smiled.

"I thought you'd be upset that everything we trained for has gone to waste," replied Leiria.

"Don't think that way! Plus, we didn't really have a lot of time together before you got sick. Not much to go to waste there." Linna shrugged.

"Linna! There's something I forgot to tell you." Quistis returned, and smiled, giving a slight nod to Leiria. "Nice to see you, Leiria."

"Thank you, Ms. Trepe." Leiria smiled back, a bit shyly, gently pulling a piece of her hair.

"You're welcome. Anyway, I forgot to tell you about the new environments we have for training."

"Is this one of them?" asked Linna, looking around. It was like the three of them were on the beach.

"Actually, this is an experimental environment that my husband created. He seems to have problems when it comes to simulating water." Quistis looked at where the water was landing on the sand. Low tide today. "There are two new environments, a jungle and a magma pit. Why don't you try one out for today's training?"
