CHAPTER ONE:

It was already 12 o’clock in the morning—the start of a brand-new day.
I closed my eyes with a smile on my face because yesterday had been a beautiful day.

When I opened my eyes, I saw a huge tree in front of me. I looked around, confused. Why am I in a forest? I don’t remember coming here, and I’ve never been in a forest before.
Why am I here? Where am I?

I heard a rustling sound from the bushes, and it felt like something was hiding there.
I immediately stood up from leaning against another tree and picked up a stick that I saw on the ground. I stepped back a little, and just as I thought whatever was hiding was about to come out, I prepared to attack—only to see a tall guy with brown hair.

When he saw me, he immediately stepped back in shock.

“Who are you?!” We asked each other at the same time.

“Where are we?” We questioned in unison once again.

We stared at each other for a while, but our silence was interrupted by a loud scream.

"Ahhhhhh!!!! Ahhhhhh!!!"

We turned our heads and saw a man with colorful hair running for his life. He was being chased by a fox.

Terrified, I quickly hid in the bushes, and the brown-haired guy did the same.

The fox lingered for a while, searching for the man it had been chasing. Once I was sure it was gone and far away, I stepped out of my hiding spot, and so did the brown-haired guy.

Where is that other guy? Maybe he knows where we are.

"This is so weird," the brown-haired guy muttered as he sat down, leaning against a tree.

I simply looked at him until he spoke again.

"From what I remember, I didn’t come here. But when I… when I opened my eyes— sigh—I was here. I don’t even know this place," he said.

"Same here," I replied, placing my hands on my hips.

A few moments later, we heard footsteps approaching. The brown-haired guy quickly stood up and moved closer to me, both of us staring in the direction of the sound.

The footsteps grew closer. My heartbeat pounded in my chest, each thud growing louder with the approaching sound. Was it the fox? Or something worse?

What if it is the fox?

I glanced at the brown-haired guy and saw that he looked just as nervous as I was.

But our fear disappeared the moment we saw a man with black hair step out.

He scanned us from head to toe before speaking.

"Who are you? Where is this place? Why is there no signal? Did you kidnap me?" he asked in rapid succession.

"Are you one of us?" I asked him.

"What do you mean one of us? Of course, I’m only one person. It’s not like I have a twin. Can you just tell me the way out of here?" he said impatiently.

"We’re lost too. We just suddenly ended up here," the brown-haired guy explained.

The black-haired guy smirked. "You should just tell me the truth. You won’t gain anything by lying to me."

"I’m serious," the brown-haired guy insisted.

The black-haired guy sighed and scoffed before pulling out his phone.

"We should stick together," I suggested, looking at both of them. "It'll be easier to find a way out if we work as a team."

They exchanged glances before looking away from each other.

"Hey, don’t you agree? I think it’s a good idea since it’ll help us find the way out faster. Plus, we might find other people here who know the way," I reasoned.

"Okay," the brown-haired guy said with a straight face.

"And you?" I asked the black-haired guy.

He turned to look at me with an expression as if I had just committed a crime. He let out a deep sigh before answering.

"I’ll come… But… I don’t want to get too close to you guys. For all I know, you’re not even human," he said.

"What if we lead you the wrong way?" I asked him seriously, making him step back.

"Then I’m not coming with you," he said.

"I was just joking. You’re no fun," I said. "Come on, let’s go."

"I’m not coming. Also, this is not the right time for jokes. If this is fun for you, it’s not for me," he said firmly.

"Do we look like liars? Just come with us. We’re all lost here anyway," I told him.

He just stared at me.

"Are you really not coming? Fine, do whatever you want," I said as I started walking away.

Just as I expected, he ended up following us.

We wandered through the forest, our footsteps careful as our eyes scanned our surroundings. The darkness made every shadow look like a lurking danger—maybe a snake, a bear, or something even worse.

We kept walking until it was already nighttime.

I’m so hungry… Are these two not hungry yet?

I was about to ask them when I suddenly felt something approaching me. I swallowed hard and called out to the two guys, but the black-haired one signaled for us to stay still.

"I’ll handle this," he whispered.

"Are you sure?" I asked.

"You can’t do this alone. We’re coming with you," the brown-haired guy insisted.

"Are you sure you can handle it?" the black-haired guy asked us.

"Huh? Why? What is it?" I asked.

"A bear," he answered quickly.

My eyes widened in shock and fear.

"Stop scaring the girl," the brown-haired guy scolded him.

"Fine, do whatever you want. But don’t blame me if you get eaten," the black-haired guy said as he slowly stepped forward.

"I don’t want to go," I said, sitting down in fear.

"Do you believe him? He’s just joking… I think… Don’t worry, we’re here with you. Let’s go," the brown-haired guy said as he held out his hand to me.

I stared at him for a few seconds, thinking, before finally taking his hand. The black-haired guy had already walked ahead, so we hurried to catch up.

The brown-haired guy took the lead while I followed behind them. It was terrifying, especially since all we had was a phone flashlight.

Why did it have to be nighttime now? sob
Can’t there be no night for just this day so I won’t be so scared right now?

We had been walking for a long time, and I was getting tired, so I stopped to rest for a moment.

But then… I felt a hand on my right shoulder.

A chill ran down my spine, and I let out a scream of pure terror.
