A few years after hunting on the road John Winchester gets a call from an old friend he met a while back telling him to come and take care of his two years old pair of twins.

After John meets Missouri Moseley and she told him the truth about everything that went bump in the night. Missouri introduced John to Kate William. Kate was a witch and hunter. Just about the same age as John was at the time. Kate helps John start his path on hunting. Even introduced him to a few other hunters. Kate and John went back and forth between hunting together and hunting alone. This went on for about 6 or 7 years before Kate mysteriously disappeared. Not to mention the two started to become less professional after a few hunts. Then in 1992 2 years after her disappearance. John receives a call from Kate telling him to meet her at her apartment because she needed help with something. When John got to the apartment all he found was a 2-year-old boy and girl crying hiding under a table clinging to each other. A note on the table giving him the kid's name and birthday. They were Twins. They were also apparently his twins. John having no other choice he takes the little to get a DNA test and just as Kate said they were his. After having the DNA test done John wasted no time in taking them back to Bobby's and introduced them to their half-brothers. Dean was 13 at the time and Sam was 9. So they were both thrilled to find out they had a baby Sister and Brother named Jade and Oliver.
