6th Year, February, 19th

There was a whiplash of movement, the sound of rustling fabric filled the quiet lavatory and the empty space a show occupied was filled.

Now Potter stood there, filling void.

-

"Potter?" Draco heard his own voice before he thought he'd spoken. Potter had just appeared out of thin air in the lavatory beside the Infirmary.

It was past curfew, meaning he, much like Draco was doing, was evading curfew. And with the proximity to where Hermione's sleeping body was, Draco could venture his guess that Saint Potter was on his way to visit the witch at her bedside. The only question was why?

Draco had his reasons, knew exactly why he had to be there post visiting hours. But Harry had early left the Infirmary since the incident - if McGongagell's words were to be believed. 'It is my understanding that either Mr Potter or Mr Weasley are accompanying her bedside during all waking hours Mr Malfoy' - that's what the Gryffindor Head of house had told him. Potter could see her during waking hours, there was no need to sneak up to her cot in the cover of midnight.

"Why in Merlin's name are you gallivanting about the hallways at this hour Potter? you'll lose some of those precious house points you're so fond of", Bloody Gryffindor's had won the house cup every year since Potter's arrival. Draco claimed nepotism when his Father had inquired, stating that the teacher's were far too soft on Potter and his Gryffindors. They couldn't lose points fast enough before another teacher claimed some miracle and they gained them back and then some.

Potter trained his wand on Draco, Draco didn't move. Seeming to avoid Draco's question and little snare about the House Cup, Potter started talking.

"What have you done to Hermione, Malfoy?"

Draco had to fight the instinct to roll his eyes. This, again. He thought he'd taken care of this little seed in Potter's head when he'd shown up at the infirmary with Blaise's bloodied face. Furthermore, he'd thought at the very least that his stark confusion and lack of taking advantage of drugged up Hermione could speak for itself.

Hadn't the witch gone out of her way to try and convince her two knights in shining armour that he wasn't a threat?

Sure, they knew not of their illicit affair with one another in silenced alcoves and in the privacy of each other's bedrooms. Nor did they know just how effected Draco had been upon hearing Hermione's slurred speech and whispering voice call out 'I love you' when user the effects of the mutant Amortentia. But he knew that Hermione had blindly defended himself to her to chosen brothers when she'd not found the Dark Mark etched into his fine skin during one of their fights in the early school year.

You'd think that by February they might get the clue?

If he had some master plan he'd have concluded it by now. He was supposed to have concluded exactly that - his mission was meant to be done with and instead he had given that up in triumph.

But no, Potter didn't know that. So he trained his wand at Draco in the boy's lavatory.

"I thought we were past this Potter" Draco responded, sounding fruitfully annoyed at the wizard as he took a dulling stance. He wondered briefly if Hermione would forgive him if he had to strike against her best friend, surely she would if Potter started things, if he hit first.

"Answer the question Malfoy, what, did , you do, to her?"

"Nothing" Draco's voice bellowed and shook off the walls, he gripped his wand then. He didn't train it on his opponent but he kept to sturdy his hand, ready for an attack if it came, "Is that really so hard to believe?"
