(Warning: spoilers! Read at your own risk! This story is a little bit shorter but I hope you guys still like it.)
I'm in the impala, heading to Bobby's, with Sam. I glance over to the passenger seat to see him watching the trees go by."You okay?" I ask, knowing that he probably won't give me a good answer. he looks up in surprise because I've broken the silence that's sat with us for most of the ride.
"Yeah, yeah. I'm just thinking." he says. Then, to my surprise, he adds, "Do you think I'll go to heaven?"
I stare at the road, vaguely aware of what I'm doing, as I ponder how to best answer his question.
My mind is drawn to the last time he asked a question like this. He was worried that he would go to hell for starting the apocalypse. I had alleviated his worries by telling him what I already believed: "What you did was an accident. You were tricked into doing it by a demon. It's not your fault, Sam. You can trust me on this one."
Though I believed this reasoning at the time, my thoughts have changed. I still believe he won't go to hell. This time, it's for a different reason.
Once again, my thoughts faded to memories. We were back in that church, when Sammy was trying to complete the trials. He wanted to do it. he wanted to sacrifice himself for the world. But I wouldn't let him; I was too selfish and I wanted to keep him to myself. I caused the demons to be able to stay on earth. It's my fault the demons are still here. All of the people that demons kill from now on, are on my hands. I'm responsible. I am to blame. I will be the one going to hell, not Sammy. Having come to this conclusion, the present slips back into my consciousness.
I turn to sam, "You will not go to hell. I will make sure of it. I will make sure you get to heaven- no matter what."
Sam looks over at me, with tears in his eyes.
"Thank you, Dean."
He says, the only words I need to hear him say in order to be happy.
