Erin and Alex both arrived early to training on this full moon night. It was Thursday, and almost everyone on the team just wanted to get training over and done with so that it would be Friday. It was a slow start to training but eventually picked up with Erin and Alex goalie training together.
"Okay, since both of you are goalies, you will both be team captains for this mini-game. Firstly, I need you guys to decide who should wear bibs - I know everyone hates that so I'm going to get you two to play a game with each other, and the loser takes bibs," explained the coach. Coach went on with the details and left to train the rest of the team.
During the game, one of the pair started in goals and the other had to try to score a goal. Since they were goalkeepers, the points would be given based on whoever saved the most goals. The catch was that they had to alternate; constantly switch with each other.
The game started out pretty simple, and Erin was up 5-4 against Alex. As time wore on, Alex started to improve whilst Erin started to tire out.
"What's wrong Rapunzel? Can't keep up with me?" Alex teased. Erin rolled her eyes in disdain and continued playing the game as if nothing had happened. She knew she had to up her game.
"Am I wrong? I mean, you are blond and your hair is really long," he said. Erin was annoyed but thought it was cute that he was calling her nicknames. However, she didn't want to seem like a softie to Alex.
The rest of the team finished their training and went to watch Erin and Alex go head to head at goalkeeping. Erin scored a goal against Alex to his dismay. Once she got into goals, he too scored a goal, keeping them even at 7-7. Whoever didn't score a goal now, would lose and have to wear stinky bibs, which no one wanted. It was tough, the two of them kept scoring goals against one another.
Finally, Alex barely rescued the ball against Erin's strong and almighty kick. "Better luck next time Rapunzel," he said. This angered her immensely. Not just because she lost, but because now she had to wear a bib.
----------
The game was going alright so far, there had been good moves and goals from each side. Erin and Alex had been saving goals...but also missing them, which they constantly boasted about.
Whilst playing a mini-match at training, the Coach decided to add a little twist to the game. He removed the goalies to help motivate the defense. Erin and Alex were both pushed like birds out of the nest, and far out of their comfort zones. Erin was already quite irritated by the stench emanating from the bib that she was wearing. The non-bib team decided to put Alex as a striker, meaning that he would come into direct contact with Erin.
Alex was excited with this and tried (yet a miserable attempt) at concealing his joy from the other players to hide his crush on Erin. It was unsuccessful, as Josh noticed and was instantly jealous. He specifically called and shouted out louder so that another player would pass the ball to him rather than Alex.
This worked out momentarily for Josh until one of the players from the opposition intercepted the ball and continued. Alex however, was in a perfect position and was able to tackle him and retrieve the ball, before progressing forward towards the goal, and towards Erin.
Erin decided that it would be a good idea to attack Alex for her team's possession of the ball. During the scuffle, their legs intertwined and Erin fell front onto Alex. They awkwardly stared into each other's eyes, and mumbled apologies to each other before some of Erin's friends and teammates went to help her up. Josh, however, was absolutely fuming, thinking that he should have been in the place of Alex.
Alex was gobsmacked and slowly got himself up, recovering from the impact of Erin's body against his. He internally smiled and externally, he was profusely blushing.

Once arriving home, Erin yet again found herself quarantining herself from her family, hoping that her dad would not bring up her fall on Alex at dinner. She was so lucky. He did not bring it up, however, her whole family noticed something was up with her. Erin's older sister came and asked about it. Erin recounted the events of training, which highly intrigued her sister.
After Erin spilled her tea, her sister spilled her own. There was a boy she was interested in, who had asked her out on a date! Erin wished that Alex would ask her out, then again, they had only just met.
Erin went on her phone, yet again arriving to hundreds of messages on her group WhatsApp chat. Once the other girls noticed her presence, they relentlessly spammed the chat with messages about Alex.
So how was it?
Did he get hotter?
Did you flirt? Did he?
Are you gonna ask him out?
Did you guys talk?
Erin honestly wasn't in the mood to answer, so she left the crafty and mysterious reply, "I have a lot of tea to tell you guys tomorrow," to which they went wild.
