October 7th

I was a little anxious.
I sent three of my men to Italy.
To headquarters.
Where my dear lying bastard of an Uncle is withholding information about my parents' murder.

They arrived last night, and my anxiousness patters through my brain and skin as I wait for a signal that they made it to headquarters.

I look at the TV, waiting for Seth to install the little camera chip and mic to show up on the radar.

He was scheduled to do it 9:05 our time.

It was 9:20.

My leg shakes as Gabriel, Luca, me, and a few other men stare at the computer.

It was blank.

Until we heard the beep, and the camera whizzes to life.

I sigh in relief, closing my eyes.
They did it, they made it.

"Alright, we are set in place. I want each of you monitoring the cameras at all times, and notify me when you rotate, si?", Gabriel asks our men and they all nod in agreement.

Gabriel and I exit the room and head to my office, me automatically sinking to my chair and him sinking on my couch.

"I'm beat already, man", Gabe sighs.

I nod, rubbing my temples. "We've been up all night. Go get a few hours of sleep."

Gabriel shakes his head. "No, I'm not gonna leave you alone for the whole day."

"Not the whole day, a few hours. And then I'll sleep at night."

I look at my best friend in mafia crime, telling him to take the offer and go get some damn sleep. He sighs, getting up.

I pat his shoulder on the way. "Straight to shower and sleep, don't be doing laundry or shit."

He gives me a tired laugh. "You got it."

Apartment

I take a step into my apartment after 19 hours or so, the homey feeling putting me slightly at ease. I put my keys down and immediately head to Kiiara's room to see if anyone's there. I knock, and Jordan opens up the door.

"Hey buddy, what you up to you?"

He shrugs. "I'm chillin. Francesco said no training today."

"Ah, yes. Lucky you. We have a huge mission on our hands that's why. This will tell us what happened to your parents."

He nods. "I know. I'm ready to know."

"I'm sure you are bud. I missed you."

And I meant it. I missed seeing this little kid who went through hell and back and is still the best kid I know.

"Missed you too." He shrugs. " I guess."

I laugh, playfully hitting his shoulder. "You guess? Don't act all chill now. I know you missed me too."
