It's been weeks since Shoto last seen you. You went away for hero business a while ago. You reassured him the longest it would take would be a week, which it did. But on the day you were going to leave, a fight broke out and you, along with a few other heroes, were injured pretty badly. Shoto had no idea until he saw it on the news. His heart dropped into his stomach as he watched you being put into the back of an ambulance.

He immediately dropped everything he was doing and traveled to the hospital he assumed you were being transported to. His friends were blown up his phone to check on him and see if he was okay. But he didn't answer, the only thing he was focused on was making sure you were okay. The ambulance arrived shortly after he did so he saw you up close. You looked like you were about to throw in the towel. But, you saw him and decided to fight harder. He knew you saw him, even if you didn't vocally or physically acknowledge him. Still, he tried to get to you, the nurses holding him back saying you need immediate care. After a small struggle, he settled down and anxiously waited in the hallway.

Almost an hour after he sat down, someone joined him in the waiting area. It was Midoriya, he came to check on him and make sure he was okay. He sat down next to Todoroki and put a hand on his shoulder. Shoto looked over at him with sad puppy eyes and a pout.

"I'm so scared. I don't want to lose her. I can't lose her." He whispered, his tears finally falling. Shoto looked back down at the floor, his hair covering his face, but the tears could still be seen falling from his eyes. Midoriya rubbed his back and tried to soothe him.

"I know. We all are. But you have to be strong Todoroki. For her. She'll make it. You know how stubborn she is. Just believe in her." He reassured him as best he could. Shoto nodded and sniffed, wiping his face with his forearm.

"Thank you Midoriya."

"Anytime. I better get going though, my arm is starting to hurt really bad." Midoriya laughed awkwardly and pointed at his injured arm. Shoto chuckled a bit before saying goodbye to his friend.

Shoto stayed up for hours, pacing around the waiting area, sitting and thinking, taking short naps. He tried his best to stay awake and wait on the doctors and hopefully you to walk out of the room. But, he ended up falling asleep in the end. The staff tried moving him but he wouldn't budge. He had a nightmare that you died. He was alone and nobody was there to come him which made things worse. He was losing hope by the second, but part of him was still optimistic that you would survive.

The next day, Shoto woke up early and continued to wait for you. One of the nurses was nice enough to bring him some breakfast. As he tapped his foot anxiously and stared at the floor, he heard two pairs of footsteps approaching him. He looked up to see a happy doctor and you who seemed to be fully recovered. The doctor knew how grateful Shoto was just by the look on his face and was okay that he didn't say anything.

Shoto jumped from his seat and ran and pulled you into the tightest embrace he could manage. He balled his eyes out, nuzzling into to the crook of your neck. His hands tightly gripped your hospital gown as he took in reality.

"I... I was so afraid. I didn't know if you would make it and," he cupped your cheeks and gazed deeply into your eyes, "I'm so glad you're okay baby," he hugged you again, burying your face in his chest, his voice barely above a whisper, "I don't know what I would've done without you. I can't even imagine... please, be safer next time. I almost had a heart attack." You knew he was serious but you couldn't help but giggle.

"I'll try, Shoto. At least we saved a lot of people so our efforts weren't in vain."

"How long will it be until you can come home?"

"A day or two. That surgery worked like magic. They just want to make sure everything's okay before I go."

Shoto nodded and rested his chin on the top of your head.

He stayed at the hospital until you were released, refusing to leave your side. When you two got home, he spoiled you to no end. He also made sure to be with you whenever he can during a mission. He swore to himself to never let you get that hurt ever again.
