Chapter 5

Mia's POV:
Days have now passed and it is Monday morning. The first day at school. I'm kind of looking forward to it to be honest. But at the same time I'm really nervous. I wake up at around 6 because the bell rings at 7:55 and I need to make sure I have enough time to get ready and travel. I do the usual morning routine. Shower, get dressed, hair then makeup. I can't complain about the uniform, it's more comfortable than my last one, and at least I don't have to wear a blazer.

I walk down the stairs into the kitchen were Dad, Luke and Alex are eating breakfast.

"I smell pancakes!!!!!" I run to the table and sit down.

"Here, honey" Dad said while giving me a plate of pancakes with honey syrup, strawberries and blueberries.

"Where's mum?" I said while stuffing my mouth with food.

"She's gone to the neighbours house to say hello" Dad said. I thought he might have been joking but he was deadly serious.

"Seriously!? This early in the morning!?" I said with a mouth full of sticky berries.

"Yea, you know your mum. She also took muffins." Dad stared at me.

"What... Muffins! She took muffins!" I said. Mums muffins are the best in the entire world! And I doesn't look like she's left any for me...

"Now come on you'll be late for school" Dad said taking mine and Luke's pancakes away.

"Quickly, go get in the car" Dad pointed at the front door.

I grabbed my galaxy print backpack and went to the front door. Luke followed. I called shot gun so when we got to the car I sat at the front and Luke sat at the back. He looked so sad but I just laughed.

Dad got in the car and gave me the lead to plug into my phone so that I could play music. Who ever calls shot gun always controls the music in our family. I wanted to pick a chill song as it was early in the morning and the sun was shining very bright. Living in LA wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I chose the song 'I See Fire' by 'Ed Sheeran' but it was the 'Kygo Remix'. I was still fascinated by what the streets looked like that I didn't really take much notice of the music. It was on shuffle anyway and I didn't take notice of Dad or Luke either cause the whole way I was just daydreaming. All my worries and nerves kinda disappeared. It was a great feeling.

We got to school a lot quicker than what I thought we would. We was 25 minutes early but Dad told us to go in now to get settled in.

Me and Luke get out the car and Dad says good luck to us. We walk through the gates and he drives away.

"Well, this is it" Luke said. He's nervous because moving his fingers. So I have to be the bigger person and walk in first.

"Woah, this place looks pretty cool!" I said kinda shocked. I've always wondered what it would be like to go to an American school and now I actually get to. We walk up to the receptionist to get our information and schedule for this semester, as they call it here, and we were given a map of the school. The receptionist was very nice to us and said to both of us "Good luck and have fun". Me and Luke have different schedules because I'm a sophomore and he's a freshmen. So I say good bye to Luke as I go and try to find my locker...
