Ned woke first, Something seemed wrong to him for a moment, but glancing around all seemed as it should be. He noticed the fire was dying so leaning over Rosie he placed another branch onto the embers, he looked down at her to watch her sleeping face only to see that she was awake he began to smile thinking to ask her if she needed a drink, but the smile froze on his lips, her eyes seemed vacant staring the pale grey orbs clouded and unfocused startled he pulled back from her, feeling her head for signs of fever, calling her name trying to wake her was she dreaming? Her lips were moving as though she was speaking but no sound came from her mouth he shook her shoulders gently at first then more urgently as he began to panic but to no avail, she lay utterly still her eyes glazed, her lips moving without sound.

"Do not touch her" warned his wolf "She is fey all we can do is be with her and wait till she wakes".

"Fey" he gasped, of course, he had heard of the fey, a race of ethereal creatures he had been told of their otherworldliness and ability to foretell, but Rosie a fey she never said.

"She has never mentioned being of the fey folk".

"She may not know she has been at that tavern since childhood".

Confused Edward sat on the ground next to her,  her skin was ice cold to the touch reaching over her he picked up the course woolen blanket she had kicked off to keep her warm. How had he not realized that she was fey her silvery hair and eyes should have given him the hint. He sighed deeply, maybe he had not wanted to see it just like he hadn't wanted to admit to himself that he loved her. But if she was Fey how in the name of the goddess had she ended up in the clutches of Jethro Thatcher? The fey Folk were fierce protectors of their bloodlines. rarely leaving their borders to mix with the other realms preferring to keep themselves isolated in their icy kingdom, the other realms likewise avoided their mountain kingdom deeming them to be too isolated and treacherous to travel to except for the most determined traders, few ventured into the mountains.

As a child, he had on one occasion traveled to Elsinore with his father apart from the Elders in the Hall the ordinary citizens had barely acknowledged their presence there.  He sat with her for the rest of the night as she talked with no sound and saw without seeing, her moon eyes like swirling clouds, as Dawn's first light crept into the cave she spoke the sound of her voice making him jump.

"They come we must go". Her eyes suddenly cleared, and she blinked and stretched herself as if she had only just woken, sitting up she smiled at him, "Is it time to wake already? I should get some food and start packing up".

He stood watching her curiously as she pulled on her clothes and combed and braided her waist-length silver hair, smiling she pulled him to her kissing him on the lips "You have made me so happy. I will wake Darius and fix some food". Snapping himself from his thoughts he smiled at her and kissed her back.

"You need to snap out of it, she is a fey, not an ogre she is still the woman we love, She needs our protection. we can only hope that no one else discovers that she is fey they will stop at nothing to get their hands on her. It is good we go north we should get her back to her people and seek their protection.''

He pulled on his clothes in haste anxious to leave the cave his mind a whirl as he debated whether he should say anything to Rosie, before deciding against it, it was obvious she had no idea she was Fey, and telling her now would only give her unnecessary worry. His wolf was right they should take her to her people and seek sanctuary among them at least until Darius was of age. They would protect her and he hoped as her mate, him and the boy".

"Rosalind let's pack up quickly and be on our way we can eat in the saddle".  he smiled in what he hoped was a reassuring smile and gathered up his saddle. ____________________________________________________
