I slowly changed into the white hoodie and loose, black shorts that Mina had brought me. I now understood what Bakugo meant about feeling numb.
"And feeling numb?" I asked. "What does that mean?"
"Like, emotionless," he muttered. "You don't feel attached to your body. You aren't feeling a motion, you're just following through with it. You just don't feel... okay."
I glanced over at my reflection in the mirror. My hair was extremely greasy and my hair dye was beginning to fade out; my roots were almost fully black from not being touched up for a while. My face looked horrible and I had a hard time keeping my eyes open due to lack of sleep.
I threw the hood over my head and walked out of the bathroom and back over to Bakugo. Mina was still sitting in the same spot and she gave me a gentle smile as I passed her.
"You doing okay?" She asked, placing a hand on my arm. "I mean, obviously not but you aren't... hurting yourself, right?"
The last few words were quieter, almost as if she didn't want to say them.
"No, I'm not hurting myself," I told her. "I'm just so worried about him..."
I took his hand in mine again and gazed at his pale face. I wished I could see his beautiful crimson eyes again...
"I understand," she said. "We're all worried about him."
I felt her eyes on me and I hesitantly returned her gaze. She looked worried yet serious at the same time.
"That doesn't mean you shouldn't take care of yourself," she said softly. She pointed at the plastic box next to me. "You need to eat something, Kiri."
I just stared at the box. "But I'm not—"
"'But I'm not hungry' yeah, bullsh**!" She exclaimed. "You know that you are, so why are you starving yourself?"
"I-I dunno—" I started.
"This isn't what Bakugo would want," she said, making me flinch.
That's all I ever thought about these days. This isn't what Bakugo would want. This isn't what Bakugo would do.
"Please, Kiri, just eat something," she said, her tone softer than before. "Bakugo wouldn't like waking up to seeing you in a hospital bed next to him."
I grabbed the box, opened it, and looked at the food inside. It was dumplings and ramen, one of my favorite meals. Ever so slowly, I took the chop sticks out of the box and began eating.
Mina smiled brightly and said, "Yay! Go, Kiri!"
I felt embarrassed having her watch me eat, but nevertheless, I finished nearly the entire box before I felt full enough to say that I wasn't hungry anymore.
"You better not be lying to me," she muttered as she took the food from me and plopped the last dumpling in her mouth with her bare fingers.
She licked them clean, then threw the box into the garbage.
"Is it okay if I leave? Now that I've taken care of you I'm sure you'll like to be left alone..." she said. Then her eyes lit up. "Oh, wait!"
She lifted me out of the chair and wrapped me in a tight embrace. After standing still for a few seconds, I wrapped my own arms around her and hugged her back.
We stood like that for at least a minute, then she pulled away and smiled at me as she grabbed her things.
"Well, love you gay boy! I'll be back in a few days to take care of you."
