In Between: Raising Hell

"SIMON is staying here for tonight." Isabelle announced as she sauntered into the room, Simon straggling behind her. Isabelle smirked when she saw Brooklyn and nodded, "And for hopefully many other nights."
Brooklyn sighed, pushing herself off of the edge of the table she was leaning against. "I'll find a room for him, Iz...you go ahead." Brooklyn suggested and Isabelle bit her lip, a plan forming in mind.
Brooklyn walked forward, grabbing Simon's hand as she led him from the room and through the hallway towards the dorms. Simon followed her, eyes flickering around nervously, taking everything in.
"So you guys all live here?" Simon asked.
Brooklyn nodded, "Yeah. The institute is about a million times better than home, plus it has Izzy." She paused as she darted around a pair of shadow- hunters she had yet to know. "And it's pretty casual. Fighting demons, come here, repeat." She explained.
Simon gaped at her, "N-Normal? That doesn't sound normal at all!" He said and Brooklyn stopped, turning to face him with a smirk and a simple nod.
"Normal to us." She clarified, turning back, "Not to you mundane's."
As Brooklyn spoke, she walked forward at such a fast pace, Simon nearly had to run to catch up.
"So what do you guys do for fun around here?" Simon had asked, trying to take another shot at a conversation with Brooklyn.
Brooklyn stopped and turned to face Simon, raising her eyebrows. She turned back with a sigh and continued to speak, "Sometimes Izzy and I hit a few nightclubs, but Alec usually ruins all the fun." Brooklyn sends a pointed look towards Alec who was having a conversation with her father, seriousness practically holding his expression's captive.
Simon nodded in agreement as it was obvious Alec was the serious one of the group. "Definitely." He agreed, noticing how serious Alec was.
Brooklyn fought back a smirk as she tilted her head at him, "You noticed that earlier, didn't you?" Brooklyn asked.
Simon bit his lip nervously and nodded, it was clear to everybody how much of a rule stickler Alec was.
Brooklyn smirked, noticing she wasn't alone in noticing Alec's over-serious aspect. She grabbed Simon's hand and led him behind the pillars where they were hidden, but still had a view of the room. Brooklyn wanted to know exactly what her father and Alec were talking about, not really caring that Simon could hear as well.
"What are you doing?" Simon questioned after they had settled into their hiding spot.
Brooklyn hushed him, turning her attention towards her father and Alec, listening in on their conversation. It was a quick conversation, filled with the basic complaints of having a mundane in the institute but what her father said shocked her the most.
Rochester, Brooklyn's father, looked around to make sure his daughter wasn't in sight as he began to speak. "The more you, Brooklyn, and the others proceed to not follow protocol, the faster this continues...the faster the disgrace spreads to both of our families." Rochester spoke and Simon glanced at Brooklyn.
What Simon didn't know however was that Brooklyn was not the disgrace to her family, her mother was.
Her mother had been a part of 'The Circle' along with Isabelle's and Alec's parents. She did make an effort to redeem her actions and succeeded, but Rochester never forgave the mother of his child for betraying them.

"AND you think talking with Magnus Bane will help Clarissa get her memories back?" Rochester inquired, arms crossed over his chest as he spoke of Clary in third person...even though she was right there.
Brooklyn nodded, "Yes. We just need to speak with him." She said.
Rochester fought back a sigh and nodded, "Absolutely not." He told them before he turned and went to leave, but Simon stopped him.
Clary gasped out of outrage and Simon lunged forward, capturing Rochester's arm before he walked away. Rochester turned back, glare dangerous as he settled one hand on his hidden seraph blade and glanced down at Simon's hand.
"Dad!" Brooklyn snapped, grabbing Simon's shoulder and shoving him backwards harshly, "I'm an adult, you can't tell me what to do anymore!"
Rochester removed his hand from his blade and straightened, eyes narrowing at his daughter, "I am the head of this institute-" He started but Brooklyn cut him off.
"-No you're not, Alec is! And if Alec says we go after Magnus Bane, we go after Magnus Bane!" her voice was now rising as she stood up to her father, glancing behind her at Alec.
Rochester grew silent and looked at Alec as well, waiting for his orders. Alec rose his eyebrows, glancing between Rochester and Brooklyn who held the same expression. It was obvious what he had to do, chose which one he agreed with so they could get a move on with the mission.
Alec nodded at Rochester before turning to the others, "We need more information." He began and Brooklyn groaned, already turning away from him, "We can't just go after Magnus, there are steps we need to take first." Alec continued, now he was sounding like Rochester.
Brooklyn scoffed, remembering the times where Alec was the rulebreaker and didn't agree with her rule-bearing father. Alec turned, leaving the room and Brooklyn shot after him, she wasn't going to let the whole mission go to waste because of Alec.
"Alec!" Brooklyn hissed as she followed Alec into the main room, the others quickly following, "What the hell? Since when did you agree with my father?"
Alec didn't answer as he knelt to the ground, pulling out his stele which he drew over the rune on the floor. A shelf came up and he quickly grabbed something from the bottom shelf as Brooklyn continued to speak harshly to him.
Alec turned, holding up the necklace and Brooklyn grew silent, she recognized it. With the silver chain and ruby stone embedded with silver it was clear the necklace meant something, and she would assume it had something to do with the mission. Isabelle gasped, taking the necklace from Alec's hand as she held it up to her neck, complimenting the beautiful piece of jewelry.
"Apparently Magnus has been looking for it for centuries." Alec told them, "Maybe we can use it to get your memories back."
The others nodded as they began to leave the room but Brooklyn turned to Alec, placing a hand on his chest to stop him from leaving. "Sorry I didn't believe you. I just hate how my dad can affect you guys." Brooklyn tells him.
Alec nodded, understanding what it was like to have an influential but dislikable parent. "Its fine." He assured her, "But right now we need to find Magnus Bane."
