I literally can't believe that it has come to this. Oh well, I was going to meet her anyway. The sooner the better. All these thoughts were rushing within me. One brain can only ponder so much.

I was caught by surprise by the next awkward moment. I didn't have a phone.

"Ummm Taylor?" I said.
"Oh my gosh, it's you again?" She said and I couldn't help but feel rejected.
"No it's me the President. Of course it's 'me'!" She looked taken aback by my sudden outburst and I quickly went from feeling rejected to sorry. Curse my pendulum emotions!

I took a deep breath "Look, I think we just got off on the wrong foot.... I'm not like this. Believe me"
She smiled "Yeah I'm sorry too, its been a long week" she paused "So uhm, what can I do for you?"
"Ok ummm can I borrow your phone?" I said.
"Ok sure"
As she handed the phone into my palm, I couldn't help but wink at her......I am my father's son after all....

He knew Mel's phone number by heart and unless she changed it, all should be well.
Eight rings without answer... surely this was bound to make anyone nervous, even a badass like David. Then finally.
"Hello" came a hauntingly familiar voice from the other side.
David didn't know what to say, he literally froze.

"Hello" Mel said again "Is anyone over there?"
"Oh sorry I wa-" he was cut short.
"Dave? Is that you?" She said softly and David  couldn't help but melt at the sweet melodic voice that he had missed everyday, despite all that had happened, David still very much loved Mel.
"Yeah yeah it's me" he said and waited for a response, after seeing that none was forthcoming he continued "Umm hey, I'm in a bit of a pickle over at the gate, can you come pick me up?" Pickle? He even changed the way he talked around her.
"You need my help?" She responded
"Come on I promise I will explain everything later"
"Just like you promised you'd never leave"
"Come on Mel, I was just a kid back then"
"And you've grown now?"
"Yes"
"Look Dave I don't got time for thi-" it was now David's turn to interrupt.
"Please" he simply said. There was a pause. And then a sigh at the other side.
"Ok ok, I'm coming stay put ok?"
"Thanks"
"Yeah yeah, whatever..." And just like that the call ended.

That had gone surprisingly well, not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. At least she hadn't ignored the call. At least she heard me out. At least I was finally in Evington. At least Mel was on her way to pick me up. And at least the plan was going well, according to plan. My mind immediately raced to Mel. Gosh how I missed her, I was done fighting my feelings, I was done burying my past behind and I was god-damned done pretending I didn't love Mel....

For the truth was, I missed her voice and I felt alive when she said that word to moments ago, as insignificant as it was........Hello?
