Dismissed (1) - JJ Maybank

PARCEL NINE PT I.

JJ and Aria almost jumped out of bed by the sound of a door slamming. Aria turned to look at JJ in shock.

"Is your dad home?" Aria questioned.

"No, no he shouldn't be home for another day," JJ whispered as he climbed out of bed to go into the middle room.

"JJ Maybank, so good to see you again." Sheriff Peterkin said.

JJ turned to look to Aria who also walked out of his room to see who the loud noise come from. She gulped thinking of two reasons why the woman was there.

One, she was there to say JJ's bail money went through and JJ would only have to pay 30k for Topper's boat.

Or, she was coming for some unknown reason to arrest JJ again, he would have to have his dad pick him up, and get another beating that could maybe kill him.

"Aria Millies, I always wondered when you two would get together. The two most troublesome kids around, maybe you can tame each other." Peterkin continued.

"Yeah, not likely. We have been friends our whole lives and still managed to annoy the shit out of you." Aria mumbled.

"Hmm, I know," Peterkin said annoyed. "Anyway, you're probably wondering why I am here, Maybank."

"A little bit yup. But I can say that I haven't done anything, just staying here with my girl." JJ pulled Aria behind him slightly.

"Aria, for once I am glad you are here. I went to your house but you weren't there. I had an interesting conversation with your dad though."

It was about the bail. Aria's dad now knew she took the money, and she still had his gun. Aria turned as pale as a ghost and JJ looked at her confused.

Her breathing faltered. The next time she went home, she was most likely going to be killed, without hesitation. JJ saw how freaked out she got and pulled closer to him.

"Anyway, JJ I believe you owe your girlfriend a massive thank you." She continued, Aria gulped, JJ was still very confused. "She paid for your bail."

JJ turned away from the woman and looked down at Aria, he was mad, happy, annoyed, and frightened, basically, every emotion he had ever felt.

"Wait, what? What does that mean?" JJ questioned not wanting to believe it.

"Aria showed up after you left and gave the 15k for your bail. Unfortunately, you still owe the restitution, and you are now on probation." The woman explained.

"You might want to clean up. Another officer could have arrested you based on the alcohol bottles around." Peterkin said as she walked out of the house.

"You paid my bail?! Why the hell would you do that?! How did you pay it?!" JJ turned to Aria.

"I tried to get to you before your dad could, but when I got there with the money they said you already left so I still paid," Aria mumbled, purposely not answering the last question.

"Ok, that's all well and good. But where did the money come from?"

"Somewhere," Aria muttered turning away from JJ.

"No, no. Don't just walk away. You and I both know full well that you can't afford to spend that much. Where did you get it, and why did Peterkin bring up your dad?"

"I borrowed it." Aria said walking away to JJ's room.

"Aria," JJ gripped her wrist and turned her around lightly. "Please, baby. Where did you get it?"

"I took it from my father," Aria whispered not wanting him to hear her, but of course he did.

"Why would you do that? Ari, he is going to hurt you."
