I lean against Wyatt and close my eyes.

"Are you ok?" Wyatt asks.

"Just fine, you?" Wyatt nods. The train jolts to a stop. We simultaneously get up.

"What happened?" I ask. Wyatt cautiously peers out the doorway.

"I don't know," Wyatt says as he walks over to me. The train jerks forward and I fall on top of him. I swipe my bangs out of my eyes.

"Sorry," I say blushing. I look at Wyatt. The sun glints off of his eyes and makes them sparkle. My heart jumps.

"It's ok," he says smiling. Embarrassed, I stand up and wipe off my jeans.

We've been on this train for two nights; I am starting to get anxious.

"So, where are we heading?" I ask Wyatt. He rummages inside of his backpack until he finds what he is looking for. He pulls out the box and key from my parents' bedroom.

I gasp. "How did you get this?" I scoot closer to him.

He wouldn't match my eyes. "Your parents came over and left it on the porch in a package addressed to me the day they died. There was a note attached to it saying, 'Take this with you.'"

"Did they know I was going to have to run away from home? Did they know they were going to die? How did they know I would go with you?" I ask all at once.

Wyatt shrugs. "I don't know. I wish I do, but I don't."

I try to smile. "It's ok."

"I'm really sorry."

"It's not your fault."

"I thought maybe they would leave us clues as to where to go in this box," Wyatt says.

"That would make sense. Here, let me see it," I say as I grab the box. I unlock it and pull out the map. "There's a new dot. I don't remember this one from before," I say as I point to the red dot that says Forum, Iowa. Wyatt scoots closer to me.

"That's right on the edge of Iowa, is there a note with it?"

"It says, 'My friend Mark,'" I gasp.

"What? What is it?"

"My dad used to talk about his friend Mark Roberts all the time; he said he lived in Iowa. We have to find him! Where are we now?"

Wyatt walks over to the train car's door. "Perfect timing, we just passed the 'Welcome to Iowa' sign."

"We have to get off soon."
