It was a stormy night and Sherlock was getting quite frightened. He called out for John, but got no response. He looked all around his flat for John but he was nowhere to be seen. Sherlock sent a letter to Detective Inspector Greg Lestrade. He started to panic and Lestrade arrived almost immediately. Sherlock asked Lestrade if he had seen John. He said that John had gone out to look for Mycroft after hearing that he had dissapeared. Sherlock rushed out of 221B in a panic. A few minutes later, after running, Sherlock found John outside an abandoned church. They entered and were immediately met with a dark figure hidden in the shadows. He walked out of the shadows and introduced himself as James Moriarty. Sherlock soon realised that this mysterious man was a vampire.
"Where's Mycroft?" asked Sherlock. Moriarty explained that Mycroft was ok but Sherlock could not see him ever again unless he sacrificed John. Sherlock didn't believe Moriarty until John was restrained by Sebastian Moran. Sherlock knew he had to make a choice: his brother or his best friend.

Moriarty knew that Sherlock was struggling to make the decision, so he gave Sherlock a different offer.
"You can keep your brother and your friend if you sacrifice yourself to me".
