the next day in campus, the group was having lunch together as always. but today, the usual bubbly and excited atmosphere died down and was replaced with a stiff and awkward feeling.ryujin, who had finally warmed up to yeji and was back to her usual loud self, was quiet, never making eye contact with chaeryeong and avoiding her completely.
chaeryeong, on the other hand, was desperately trying to talk to ryujin, asking her meaningless questions which the older didn't reply to.
yeji tried starting up a conversation but failed. giving up, she resorted to eating silently.
yuna and lia, however, were all bright and smiley, chatting animatedly.
"i have to leave for my next lecture now. see you guys later!" ryujin says with a smile, leaving immediately with the tray in hand.
chaeryeong bid a quick goodbye to them before hurrying after ryujin, nearly tripping over her own foot.
yuna asked what happened, confused.
"i think they got into a little fight," yeji said honestly.
"oh," lia replied, pouting sadly. "they never fight, ever," she added with a sigh. yuna agreed with a nod.
"anyway, we have to leave for our class, don't we?" yeji stated, trying to lighten the mood.
the other two nodded, going to return their trays with yeji before heading to the lecture hall.
—
"ryujin!"
the said girl turned around, eyes widening as she saw chaeryeong jog towards her.
"are you mad at me?" chaeryeong asked, walking beside her.
ryujin shook her head.
"then why are you ignoring me?" she snapped, sliding into the seat next to ryujin's.
ryujin glared at chaeryeong. "i don't really want to talk to you now," she said.
chaeryeong slumped into her seat, deciding to respect ryujin's wishes and left her alone.
"please tell me if there's anything i can do, okay?" chaeryeong whispers.
ryujin nods, slightly annoyed. she grabs her stuff and heads to the empty seat a few rows behind chaeryeong.
the latter followed ryujin with her eyes, sadness overwhelming her as the older settled down, not sparing her a second glance.
—ryujin tried keeping her mind off chaeryeong, not wanting to get into close contact with her for the time being.
ever since their fight yesterday, ryujin was terrified that chaeryeong was ask her about what she said about liking someone. ryujin didn't know how long she could keep her feelings from chaeryeong and was trying her best to hide those feelings from the younger for as long as she could.
