Amanda opened the door to a tall, young man with brown, messy hair.
"Hey Amanda."
"Hi."
Amanda smiled as she greeted Matt, and then hugged him. "I'm so happy that you're here. My parents have been so annoying today," she said into his worn, gray hoodie. He smiled at her and then picked up some of her bags. She then grabbed her purse, the food, and the rest of the bags. He left the house with the bags, but Amanda lingered behind.
"You coming?"
"Yeah, one second."
She looked around the kitchen and into the living room, memories rushing back. A tear came to her eye but she quickly brushed it away. Then she left the house and closed the door behind her forever.

Matt was setting the bags into the back of his truck when Amanda came over to him. She put the food into the back of the body of the truck and then climbed into the front. Matt followed and turned to her.
"You okay?"
"Yeah."
"You sure you're ready?"
"Mhm. Let's just go now. My Uncle will be coming soon."
Matt buckled up and then they drove away. They drove through the town, and Amanda stared out at the place she grew up in rush away forever as The Lumineers' Slow It Down drifted from the truck stereo. Eventually the truck merged onto the almost empty highway.
"I'm surprised it's this empty."
"Well, I bet most people aren't going on a cross-country trip when the world is ending in a few days."
"Don't you think some kids want to go to Disney World or something?"
"Nah."
"Do you?"
Matt laughed.
"No. I've got everything I need right here."
He teacher over and put his hand around her shoulder.

A black limo pulled up in front of Amanda's old house. A tall man in a suit walked out of the car and went up to the front door. He reached over to the knocker and was about to knock when he saw the note. He ripped it off and read it, and when he was done, he threw it onto the floor. He took out a sleek, thin phone and tapped the screen before holding it up to his ear.
"Hey, Cassie. ... Yeah. She's gone. ... Mhm. I'll go find her."
He walked back over to the limo and gets in. A few minutes later, the limo speeds away, in the same direction the truck had gone half an hour earlier.

[A/N: OK, I'm really sorry this is almost late/really short! I have a tournament next week that I've been prepping for, so my schedule has been a bit weird. I promise next week's will be awesome, though it might be later also.]
