Amanda,

I'm sure you've heard by now the news. The space debris is coming soon. Your grandfather told me that NASA has told him Earth has about 3 days before the collision. They don't think we will survive if we aren't below ground. The preliminary tests are showing there will be lots of radiation coming from the debris, and they're about as big as a football field.

Your father and I have taken the helicopter upstate to start prepping a bunker for the whole family. I've arranged for a taxi to drive you up there at 6. Start packing everything since we might not come back. I also have taken the liberty of hiring a tutor for you so that when we can come back out, you will at least have an education. Maybe then you'll amount to something and not be a failure like usual.

Love,

Mother

P.S. Don't think about doing anything stupid. We've already thrown out all of the alcohol and medicine and all of the valuables are with us. Don't screw anything up like usual.
