Question of the day: Which character do you hate the most?
*Miami's pov*
-Friday, September 18, 6:27 PM-
"...so then I told her, 'if you want mud over 'em then have 'em!'" Claudine let out a snort as we walked around the little shops that loitered the village.
I let out a fake laugh, feeling bad that I wasn't really listening to her. My mind has been stuck on Edward since Wednesday night. He seems to be more distant.
"There was also this one time I locked Clayton in our bathroom. He was way too stupid to figure out how to turn the knob." She giggled allowed and I matched her laugh with one of my own.
'Maybe he thinks I will tell,' I thought. I wouldn't, as long as I could touch his body again; mm, his God-given body.
"Omg, these are too cute!" Her squeal broke me from my thoughts and I looked to her, seeing she was holding up pink cowgirl boots. They matched her personality like a puzzle piece.
"Eww, they are not," I heard her high voice before I saw her. Turning my head slightly, I saw that Amber was here in all of her glory, looking towards Claudine with a disinterested look. "You have horrible fashion sense. Although, I don't expect any different from a hillbilly mutt."
Claudine let out a growl, her eyes darkening. When someone called another wolf a mutt, it was usually a sign of war. I stood in front of Claudine before she did something she regretted and glared at Amber.
"First of all, she isn't a hillbilly, second of all, you're the only mutt I see here. And third of all, we didn't ask for your opinion. Her style is way better than your slutty ass." I told her, lowering my gaze towards her.
Her eyes darkened for a second before she just looked away with a nonchalant look. "Whatever, I wouldn't want to get my nails ruined by the likes of you two." She said before she turned and walked away.
"Miami, have I ever told you how much I love you?" Claudine asked as she pulled me into a hug. I was surprised, but hugged her back.
"Nope, but I love you too, girl," I said and it was the truth. I had only know this girl a week a she was already my best friend. "By the way, those are some really nice boots."
She pulled away and grinned brightly, looking down at them in her hand. "Ohmigosh, I know! I have a pair just like these at home." She sert them back down on the shoe holder thing before she pulled me over to some dresses. "Maybe we should shop for some dresses for next Friday." She commented, her fingers running over a light blue dress that was silky.
"Hello! Do either of you need any help?" Claudine and I both turned to see a short, perky girl with light purple hair. "Omg, yes, that dress would look totes adorbs on you girl." She said, her voice squealing a bit as she pulled it from the rack and gave it to Claudine. "Go try it on!"
Claudine gave the girl and I a bright smile before moving into the changing rooms. 'That girls smells weird,' I told my wolf, staring at the girl suspiciously, who had now turned to look through other racks. 'She is a full human, duh.' My wolf said in reply. My eyebrows raised a bit higher in surprise.
"If you're a human," I started and she turned her head to me, "then why are you at the Academy?"
"Oh, I'm not at Cresthaven," she giggled before looking through the dresses once again. "I work here in town. My mate is here as a bodyguard for King Edward. I didn't have the heart to leave him here where all those she-wolves could steal him." Her eyes looked at me up and down before she continued on with her searching. "Anywho, I got a job here so we could continue spending our night together. I'm Hailey, by the way."
"Miami," I told her, thinking again of Edward as she said his name. Of course, she just had to bring up him.
"Cute name," she complimented, "dear, I don't see any dresses here that match your skin tone, but you should try Jezebel's across the street-" she stopped mid-sentence as she caught sight of something behind me. "Woah."
I turned to see Claudine in all her glory standing there in a breathtaking dress. She was barefoot in it, but nonetheless looked beautiful. "You have to get that one. Nothing will look better than that. That is so gorgeous I am jealous."
"Really? Okay! I'll just go take it off and we can ring it up," Claudine said with a huge smile before rushing back into the dressing room.
"I'll go to the register and ring that up, it was nice meeting you Miami," Hailey said before she skipped off to the register.
She sure was one weird girl. I liked her.
A hand grabbed my wrist suddenly and yanked me behind a few other racks of clothes. "Hey, who do-" I started, but stopped as I saw Amber was the one pulling me.
She let go of my wrist and crossed her arms at me, giving me a glare. "Listen, Miami, I just wanted to warn you to stay away from the King. He is not right for you Hun, trust me, I've been in your shoes. He doesn't want you, you're only a Delta. He only wants to use your body."
I hadn't expected her words to hurt that much, but they did. I was taken aback as well at how angry I felt. I really wanted to hurt her. "How'd you know about him and me?" I asked, raising my eyebrows.
She opened her mouth to reply, but was cut off by his voice. "Miami, there you are, I've been looking everywhere for you." I turned to look from her to him. He was giving me a gentle smile, one that turned my insides into mush.
"Remember what I said," Amber told me as she moved past me to bow to Edward. "King," she said shortly before sashaying off.
"Sorry if I interrupted you, I just missed seeing you these past few days. I've been having to deal with recent attacks in small packs off the coast of the island. Nothing too major." He told me, bending his head down to kiss my lips.
All my worries- with him ignoring me, Amber, the Academy- washed away as his scent enveloped me and I became relaxed at his touch. 'Don't listen to that bitch, she just wants him to herself.' I told myself.
Claudine's voice woke me up from Edwards heavenly touch. "Miami?"
