Racing out of the treehouse I call home, I stepped out into the forest. Despite me being in a rush, I prefer to slow down sometimes.
The forest is beautiful,, We're in the middle of an open spot, right around the center of the forest. Trees provide shade, but there's still the sunlight that glimmers and makes its dramatic appearance through the leaves. The fairies keep the forest looking very tidy, and beautiful as a whole, making lamps and sources of light fueled by their magic. The magic gives the forest a serene, almost violet hue, which when mixed with the sunlight in the day, make it a beautiful place to be in, though it's nothing compared to night. At night, the lamps that the fairies have created make everything look eerie, mysterious even, except when mixed in with the many kinds of flowers, and the shade from the trees, and the moonlight beaming down onto the grass, it's a sight you honestly can't forget.
Most people live in treehouses, or small cottages, in this part of the forest. There's many different kinds of people though, mainly small creatures, like fairies, and woodland animals, and very, very few humans. I don't even consider myself human, if I'm going to be honest. I was reanimated by Soko when I fell from the school building, and so I somewhat consider myself dead, almost like a ghost. The radiation in my body also allows me to change into different forms, which I mainly practice with Kyra.
Kyra's been my best friend since we met, we just clicked, really. He's honestly super cool, in my opinion, and seriously funny too. We always work together when they're not with the forest mechanic there is. His name's Hudson, and Kyra's pretty clingy to him, not as much as he is to Soko, really, but that's beside the point. We've been friends till the end, and so we always work together building things, and I often let him practice using me as a host. Soko usually finds any person to use as a human host, but Kyra's more picky in that sense. Kyra's been thinking of finding a male host, but they're scared to admit they wanna use Hudson as a host, probably because they have serious feelings for him. It's stupidly funny watching Kyra become an absolute mess in the span of a second, as soon as Hudson walks in through the door. That's beside the point, though.
I'd continue walking through the eerie forest, before finding my way to a rather moderately sized cottage. The walls were a creamy brown tone, with a warmer brown as the top of the house. There was a small chimney on the inside, that usually let out smoke, but today didn't. That meant that they were out in the backyard.
I'd walk over to the back of the cottage, hopping up onto the fence and looking down into the backyard. They were nowhere to be found, so I observed the area around the backyard. The grass in the backyard was freshly cut, and there were several boxes for storage that were packed with materials: Nails, bolts, planks of wood, those kinds of things. Kyra always trains with Hudson, running around the forest, being pushed to do sit-ups, push-ups, things of that sort. I suspected they might've been out running, so I hopped off of the fence, and would plop down onto the grass.
It took a while for anyone to show up, especially those two, but after around 10 minutes, a broad figure appeared in the distance, dragging a moderately short looking girl in. The figure was Hudson: Tall, slightly muscular, brown eyes and messy hair. He looked like he trained constantly, even in his sleep. After all, every time I see him he's doing some kind of exercise , so it's almost expected at this point. The other, Kyra, looked the exact opposite, though. They looked clumsy, with long, messy, red hair that fell below their waist. I usually braid Kyra's hair into two parts, so they can run around easier, but since they woke up earlier than me today, I didn't get the chance to. Kyra's a little ditzy, always running around trying to make people smile and laugh, even when things seem to be going wrong or people are in danger. It's admirable, really.
I got up and approached the two in concern and curiosity. Usually people don't come from that side of the forest, unless they were trying to get close to the border, which is prohibited.
"What happened, guys??" I questioned.
