It's been nine years.
Nine? Maybe eight? I don't know, but time flies. The city was completely destroyed after the incident. I was taken by those two cells into this village in the forest. They're actually pretty nice, believe it or not. I thought they'd kill me, however they didn't. I've stayed in the forest for a long time though, only getting out every now and then to peek out at Oaksley.
They actually rebuilt the town. It looks pretty, really! Everything looks more modern and more like a city than a town now, the city's bigger than ever, and it's nice and bright at night. The creatures in this forest don't like the light though. They don't like many things about the city though. The lights, the noise, how much space it takes. Some of the trees in the front of the forest had to be chopped down, so the forest is smaller now. It's unfortunate that they need to do all of this. I still wonder who caused that explosion in the first place. Probably some stupid scientist.
Speaking of scientists, I'm pretty sure Susan went on to become a scientist. She's eighteen, well, we're both eighteen. She got the job when she was sixteen, like how I was supposed to. I decided to not take it up though, because of the way they treat cells. Soko and Kyra told me about how they were experimented on by those freaks of nature, and constantly manipulated as well. It's sickening, really. Then again, nothing I can really do. Everyone assumes I am dead, anyways. Susan became a public speaking figure too, speaking about how upsetting it was that people died and how I shouldn't have died. Bold of her, really. She just fills me with rage nowadays.
Eh, at the end, nothing really bothers me that much anymore. I've just been focusing on this forest I'd been brought into. It's beautiful, stunning even, and it's safe. There's some big creature guarding the outside of the forest. It makes sure nothing harmful can get in. Me, and the two cells managed to convince it to let us in, and we just kinda made ourself a small home in the forest. A treehouse, you could say. There's lots of tall trees in the forest, and the forest has this purple glow from the inside. We've found lots of magical creatures in here, too!! I suppose little kid me was right, this place really is cool.I sat up in my bed, looking out the window. There were the usual, small fairies flying around some trees, some picking flowers and gifting them to each other, and small, cuddly spirits beside them, doing their little tasks and chores for the village. The village is cozy, and as much as I'd like to continue talking about it, I have things to do. I'd slide off my bed, almost catching myself, but landing on the floor with a thud. Eh, none of them heard, anyways.
I stood up, sliding off the sweater I wore as a pajama, and putting on this long, black coat that I usually wear when I'm outside. It covers me up, and it's warm and comfortable, especially considering how cold it can get outside. It gets almost to the point of freezing, however it never snows, stupidly. I'd put on my glasses, which were placed on top of the night-shelf beside my bed. They were clean, surprisingly, and they had a little note beside them, seeming to have came from Soko. Their handwriting isn't the best, but it's rather neat for a cell, and easy to read.
''Good morning!!
Hopefully you got a good rest, Kyra's out training, at the moment! You can join them if you want, I'm in the living room if you need anything.
Love youu~ <3"
I'd smile, before folding the note very gently and placing it into one of the pockets in my coat. I looked at myself in the mirror, checking if my hair was too messy. I hadn't cut it in a while, but last time I cut it myself it came out horrible. I usually ask Kyra for help with that, since Kyra's the one who knows how to style stuff better. Eh, it's whatever, not like the fairies care if I'm a mess or not.I walked over to the door, and swung it open, a little too hard, considering it slammed onto the wall, but eh. Soko already suspects that from me, since I'm not the weakest. I walked over to the living room.
A seemingly short looking person was sitting on the couch. They had short, green hair, with a front yellow strand covering one of their bright green eyes, looking almost like a leaf. There were faint brown spots on their leaf-like hair, although they're embarrassed of people noticing it.That is Soko. My best friend and roommate. I already mentioned them before, but they're very, very nice and respectful of me. After all, they did bring me back to life, so I gotta give em that.
I'd go over and gently ruffle their hair, catching them a bit off guard. They're somewhat of a clutz, and I don't make noise when I walk, so I often startle them. They'd turn to me, looking somewhat frustrated from being startled, but also having the dopey little smile they usually have. It's surprisingly cute, really. Soko's really cute.
"Heyyy,,!! Whyzzz!!" Soko would reply, having the buzz in their voice that they usually do. I'd laugh at their reaction, smiling back at them. "I just find it funny!! And by the way, thanks for the note!" I'd pull out the note out of my coat pocket, smiling at Soko.
Soko would nod in response. "Of course, zzt!! I know you forget things easily, so I just wanted to remind you"
"Well, I really appreciate it, Soko. Didn't expect you to write a note, either. I thought you were busy helping the fairies?"
"Oh, I finished early, actually! The kiddos are really nice, y'knowzz,,"
Soko often helps the fairies take care of their kids, since some of the kids are constantly trying to wander out of the forest. It's against the rules to get out of the forest though, specifically in the morning and early night.
If anyone were to escape into Oaksley and out of the forest, it could get us all in danger. The lab Soko and Kyra were trapped in would definitely go after the fairies, and much less everyone else in this forest. There's a huge forest guardian that protects us from those people, though, so it's a matter of keeping the kids away from the outskirts of the forest. The kids really like Soko, though, so they listen to them. Soko really has a way with children. It's admirable, really.
"Ah, neat. Well, I'm off to look for Kyra! I'll be back later, so see ya' for now."
Soko would nod in response, before quickly jumping up and grabbing my hand to stop me. I'd look over in confusion, pausing from walking over to the door, as Soko quickly raced into the hallway to their room. Soko would quickly come back with a moderately-sized blue dinosaur plush. My old plush from when I was a kid. I didn't even think it would still be in good condition, but there it was. It had stitch marks on the neck and tail, so Soko most likely stitched up the broken ends so it would be as good as new.
"I had kept this for a while, trying to teach myself how to sew stuff... I know you had been trynna teach me human morals and stuff, and so I just wanted to repay you for it." Soko handed me the dinosaur plush.
I'd smile, looking at the dinosaur plush. I'd hold it very close, sighing happily into it. It felt just as nice as it made me feel all those years ago. I used to do everything with that dino plush, even giving it the name Comet. It even had the same blueberry smell it used to have, causing me to assume Soko had gone out of their way to give it the old smell it had.
I'd look at them, before pulling them into a tight hug.
"Thanks, Soko.. It means a lot, really.." I'd softly mumble to them. They'd smile at me, cheeringly, and after a while would pull away, giving me a gentle boop on the nose.
"Mmhm..! Now then, you gotta head out to see Kyra, so I won't stop you! Have fun!"
I'd smile back, nodding at them. "Mmhm, I'll make sure to have fun!" I'd say, before racing out of the door.
The forest is a beautiful place to live, especially with those two cells. But it's no time to think about that, it's time to go look for Kyra!
