"Whoa, who is that?"

Max looked up from the newest book he was reading, his green eyes zeroing in on the guy walking into the cafeteria. The guy had a thick mop of curly blonde hair falling down into his brown eyes, his uniform fitting nicely over his obvious athletic body. My eyes wandered back over to my brother who was watching the guy with curious eyes, something that made me smile.

Ever since he confessed to me that he was into guys, I had been trying to find a guy worthy of him. Max was by far one of my most favorite people ever, it was even better that he was my brother. We had an amazing childhood and got really close when we were still young. Now I was fifteen and he was eighteen and the school year had just started. It sucked that he would be going to college next year; I didn't want him to leave. Other classmates tended to treat me differently just because I was the heir to the throne. That isn't my identity though, and I just people would remember that.

"Oh that's Beau he's in my Calculus class," Zyla said next to me.

My eyes glanced over to one of my cousins who was sitting next to me. She was my uncle Augustus and aunt Kelty's daughter, and one of my best friends. My aunt and uncle got married when I was five, and not too soon after they adopted twins Zyla and Kin. My aunt was told she wasn't able to have children so they adopted the five year old twins. Luckily we were the same age so we were always getting into mischief together, something my parents always lectured me on. Well, mainly it's just my dad who lectures me and my other dad secretly high fives me in the hallway. I had stopped calling him Philo and started calling him dad, something that made him cry.

"I still can't believe you're already taking Calculus," I said while making a face.

She smiled, her bright blue eyes twinkling behind her blonde hair. "I still can't believe you hate math."

"You're a nerd," I said while playfully shoving her.

"You got that right," Kin suddenly said as he plopped down next to Max. His identical blue eyes looked to where we were looking before moving his blonde hair out of his eyes. "What's going on?"

"New guy," I said while taking a glance back over at Max. He was still watching Beau before the new guy must've sensed someone looking at him. He looked over at our table, instantly making Max look down at his book.

Kin made a noise while shoving a chicken wing into his mouth. "Tell me what's the big deal about a new guy?"

"We don't really get a lot of new people," I said while watching Beau walk over to a table of senior sports guys. "Wait, is he a senior?"

"I thought that was obvious when I said he was in my Calculus class," Zyla said. "Usually that's only for seniors."

"Except for freaky nerds like you," Kin said. He yelped when his sister bonked him on the head, making me laugh.

Kin looked over at the athletes table again before shrugging. "I don't know man; he looks like a regular dude to me."

"He's from Canada," Zyla said as Kin shoveled more food into his mouth. "In class he seemed nice."

That comment made Max slowly look back up again before finding Beau sitting at the table. I always knew when something captivated his attention because he'd actually look away from his book. I had never met anyone who loved reading more than him, I'm sure that's where my love of reading came from.

"Dude, are you going to finish that?" Kin asked while pointing towards the uneaten food on Max's tray.

"Take it," he said while shoving the tray towards our always hungry cousin. My dad said he was just growing nonstop; it made me wonder how tall he'd eventually be. Max was only 5'6 and Kin was already taller than him, he was probably going to be a beast and he was only fifteen.
