B R Y N N

It was raining. Yet my clothes were dry. That's when I noticed a boy in the distance. I opened my mouth to speak but no words came out. I felt around for my mouth, it was gone. I tried screaming louder and louder as the rainstorm got harsher. Then I saw who the boy was it was...Calum. I opened my eyes. I was breathing heavy. It was all just a stupid nightmare. I propped myself up on the bed with my right hand using the other to run a hand through my hair. I looked over to the digital alarm clock on the side of my bed. It was almost eight in the morning. Better to wake up early then late, I guess. I slipped out of my comforter and walked into the bathroom. Just as I was about to grab my toothbrush, I heard the ring of my phone. I groaned as I walked out of the bathroom to grab it before it was too late.

"What?" I choke out. I hadn't spoken all day and hadn't realized how dry my mouth was. Who the hell was calling me this early in the morning anyway?

"Did I wake you?" It was Calum, of course it was Calum. It's been about two weeks since I had met him. And for the most we're already pretty good friends. He can be a bit clingy at times with all his surprising phone calls.

"No, I just woke up," I explained as I walked back into the bathroom. "What's up?" I asked, trying to lighten up.

"Would you like to um..." His words started to drift off. This is how most of our phone conversations started. But he never asked me the real question, and every time I acted stupid. Like I didn't know he was trying to ask me out. Although I didn't know if that was because I didn't want to or I did.

"Help me build some Ikea furniture." He blurted out finally. Was he serious right now?

"Sure," I giggled. I think this was his worst cover up yet. I didn't know why I made him so nervous that he wouldn't just ask me already. But at least I could chill with him while he pretended he was bob the builder.

"I have to go. See you at work." He mumbled as the awkwardness settled in.

"Bye Cal." I added just before hanging up the phone. Then I was left brushing my teeth and feeling a bit conflicted. I liked Calum, but not like that at least not right now. And I didn't know what I was going to do when he actual found the nerve to ask me out. I spat out the toothpaste just as there was a knock at my bedroom door.

"Come in." I mumbled as I wiped my mouth with a hand towel. Tarin, my roommate and best friend from my hometown, waltzed into my room holding a donut.

"Who was that?" She mumbled as she bit into her donut. Tarin had always been the nosy type, probably had been standing outside of my door for the past hour.

"Calum, why?" I answered as I pushed past her walking towards my closet. I turned to her as she narrowed her eyes at me, "What?" I lightly laughed as I threw my hands up in the air.

"Nothing." She shrugged off. She didn't have to say anything for me to know that she thought I was hiding something from her. My answer was far to simple for her liking.

"Did he say anything in particular?" She added as I pulled out some clothes for work. I knew exactly what she was talking back.

"Not really. Just to build some Ikea furniture with him." I mumbled as I slipped off my shorts and into the skinny jeans. She started dying of laughter, I thought she might fall over. Then she turned serious finally collecting herself, "Aka, bang you." I rolled my eyes, I knew she was joking. But there was always some truth to her jokes.

"Your funny." I said sarcastically as I pulled the shirt over my head and straighten it out.

"Hey, so what are you doing tonight?" She asked changing the subject making sure out schedules don't clash. Since we we're going to be sharing the same car till my window got fixed.
