I finally reach my apartment with sore feet, considering I walked for about 30 minutes. I walk up the porch steps, taking a deep breath hoping Calum didn't kill himself listening to Tarin's issues. As I enter the small apartment, I already see Calum and Tarin's shoes, left at the bottom of the staircase. I search around downstairs, but couldn't seem to find them. I slowly walk up the steps, and can already hear faded giggles. I slowly tip toe my way to Tarin's bedroom door, and slightly press my ear up against the door. I heard nothing for a couple of seconds, so I pull my ear away, but right then I could here Tarin's bed springs bouncing, what the hell is going on?
I burst through the door, and see Calum sitting up against her dresser, and Tarin basically bouncing on her bed, trying to screw in a new light bulb. I don't even know what expression was on my face as Calum stood up from the floor.
"Oh hey, where's Luke?" Calum asks, walking towards me, and Tarin jumping off of her bed. It took me a second to snap out of my thoughts.
"Oh, I kinda, sorta left him at the restaurant." I say in an innocent voice. Tarin just sends a short giggle, then looks up at Calum. Calum still hadn't broken the tense eye contact we were making. I don't know why it suddenly got awkward. When I first walked in Calum was laughing with Tarin, and Laughing at her as she struggled to screw in the light bulb. But as soon as I come in, it was just awkward silence, and short sentences.
"Oh." Calum shortly said, as if he could speak English anymore, "well, uh. Why'd you leave, I was coming back." He added on.
"Well, I wanted to talk to you. And from what I saw, looked like you weren't coming back anytime soon." I mumble the last part with a hint of sass. I didn't mean for the last sentence to come out, it was more like I was thinking loud. Calum just bit his lip, and looked down at Tarin, as if he wanted her to say something.
"Don't get to upset Brynn, my light bulb went out, so it took me a while to find a new one. He was going to head back after I was done." Tarin says wrapping her arm around my shoulders. At first I tense up in disgust, but then relax, what was I getting all worked up for. We all stood there for a couple of seconds, waiting for someone to break the awkward silence.
"Walk me to my car, and we can talk." Calum finally blurts out. I just nod with a short smile, and pivit towards the door.
I expected me and Calum to talk all the way to his car, cause normally he is really talk-a-tive, but it was just awkward silence. We finally reach Calum's car, and he quickly gets into it, rolling down the windows. I wanted to talk to him about what happened, and say thanks for the window money, but I can't bring myself to it.
"You wanted to talk to me?" He asks, still waiting for me to say something.
"I, uh. Just." I stutter for a couple of seconds, but then take a short pause to process what I was going to say, "uh, thanks for the window money." I shortly say, leaving him with a blank expression. He sat there, thinking there was more to what I was going to say.
"Thats it?" He asks as if he's not buying what I'm saying. I just nod my head, and look past him so I wouldn't have to make eye contact. "You don't want to talk about the date? How Luke and Tarin were suppose to be just tag along." I just tilt my head to the side, not getting what he was saying. "Never mind. I'll see you tomorrow, later Brynn." He says, and with that he rolls his window up, starts the engine, and drives off. Normally he would try jumping in for a kiss, or a hug, but not today.
My mind starts to drift off once again, what did Tarin and Calum talk about while they were there. My question still stands, why were we acting like this?

I couldn't take all the tension that was happening between me and Brynn. I was still upset about the whole date failure. I felt as if I were the third wheel, and Tarin and I were the ones on a date. I don't think Luke would even try anything with Brynn, from what I've told him, he's my friend, he wouldn't do anything like that. But there's one thing that I'm still confused about, why was Brynn so awkward, she seemed as if she was hiding something, that's why I still wonder, what happened when I left?
Today was my day off, but everyone else was working. Even though I payed off the window fine, everyone decided they wanted to keep working there, but Brynn shortened their hours. I decided to take a quick shower, and text Tarin, see if she's free to hang out. She quickly texted back, with a thumbs up emoji followed by the cheezing face.
I decided to take Tarin out to the cafe couple of stores down from Happy Melodies. Once we ordered our drinks, we decided to sit on the side walk outside, since all the tables were taken. Our conversation get really deep, when Tarin isn't crying about guys, she's actually pretty cool and funny. We basically just talked about our interests, and about ourselves. Then a subject came up, that I didn't even intentionally want to bring up, Brynn and Luke.
"Do you like Luke?" I simply start off. She looks up, and stops sipping her drink.
"I mean, he's cute, but he seems like an asshole." She replied, and continues to drink her coffee. I just let out a tiny chuckle and look up at her, and back at the ground.
"He's actually a chill guy, I guess. What about Brynn?" I add on, she continues to look down at her drink, but stops sipping it.
"What about her?"
"Has she ever brought up Luke or anything?" I curiously ask. She places her drink back, and leans backwards onto her hands.
"No, she always comes home and talks about her day, but when she talks about her day, it seems like she just talks about you. It's always, Calum did this, Calum tried that, Calum, Calum, Calum." She ranted on, with slight laughs. I have to admit, it feels good knowing that she talks about me, it just gives me a warm feeling, and hope, hoping she wouldn't try going to Luke.
"Calum, can I say something?" Tarin asks picking up her cup once again. I just nod my head, and make eye contact. "You're a cool guy, and I'm sure Brynn is head over heals for you, she just has a hard time showing it. Me and her are different, I just go for anyone I can get, but for her she just doesn't care. I guess that's why we're good friends. If we acted the same, things would get boring. Opposites attract, and likes repel." She explains. She was right about Brynn, it feels as if her feelings for me were bipolar.

It was finally my lunch break, but instead of heading over to some fast food restaurant, or home, I just decide to grab some coffee at the cafe, not too hungry today. As I make my way to the door, a sudden hand presses up against the glass door. I turn around to see Luke. I back up a little, so were weren't so close.
"Where you headed? It's my lunch break too." He asks, as he slightly opens the door.
"I'm just headed to the cafe, want to come?" I insist. Luke just smiles, and fully opens the door, letting me out first.
As we turn to start walking to the cafe, we instantly spot Calum and Tarin sitting on the side walk in front of Starbucks. Luke just continues to walk as if it didn't bug him, so I followed his movements. We finally reach the entrance of Starbucks, and that's when Luke finally notices Calum and Tarin.
"Oh, hey guys." He shortly says, then entering the cafe. I just stay behind for a couple of seconds. I could already see that same exact blank expression Calum had been giving me since yesterday afternoon. What the hell is going on anymore?
Yeah, hey hi, enjoy. k bye
