As I was walking back to the dorms with Charlie, I learned a lot about his history. He told me with a shrug, "Both of my parents died when I was seven years old. Shadow adopted me when he found me with bruises on my face. He knew that my adopted family was harmful, so he adopted me right then and there." I raised an eyebrow in intrigue. I knew that Shadow had a soft side (as much as SEGA and some Sonic nut jobs would refuse to admit), but I never would have guessed that he would legitimately adopt a kid.

I shook my thoughts about the matter off when I returned to my dorm. I wondered if I was falling in love with Charlie, since thoughts of him kept me awake at night. That and those damn mystery voices that were upstairs. I grumbled, covering my ears with my pillows, "Son of a bitch, as if sleep was hard enough to come by. Tonight is fucking impossible because Charlie is hot... and those fucking voices upstairs seem to be buzzing about news of my arrival."

The next morning, I checked my laptop to find a new message. I opened the laptop to Nicole greeting me, "Good morning Alison Hedgehog. How did you sleep?"

I yawned, trying to wake up. I blinked my eyes blearily at the AI lynx on my computer. "Poorly. I'm not exactly Sleeping Beauty. I'm more of an insomniac." I replied honestly.

"You got a new message. The origins of the message are unclear. Do you wish to read it?"

"Yes, please." I replied, expecting the lynx AI to show me a morning greeting from Sonic. Instead, when I opened Dashbook Messenger (Sonic got me set up on there), I found a new contact on there. It simply read "Damien Hedge." I opened it to find this message:

Good morning, ma'am or sir. My name is Damien, and I am looking for someone to talk to since Tina has been bullying me. I hear that you are new to STH Academy?

I read this message again, just to be sure. I was immediately curious. So I typed back, Hello, Damien. My name is Alison Black. I am indeed new at STH Academy.

I didn't have long to wait for a response as Damien typed, Well, Alison, let's get to know each other.

I decided to be sarcastic as I wrote, Want coffee and donuts? I was not expecting the response I got.

No, because I downright hate coffee. How about you start with which House you are sorted in? Damien responded, his text sounding curious to me.

I read what Damien had to say, so I decided to humor him. Sonic House. I typed back hurriedly, then sent the message. I didn't wait to hear or see what Damien had to say, since I rushed out the door, doing the morning thing (brush teeth, hair, put on uniform, etc). I was out the door and heading down to the cafeteria, bundling up tightly in my fur coat as I moved down the halls.

I hear Tina bullying me again as I sat down. She was shouting generic rude shit at me, but one thing struck hard. She yelled, "Why don't you go back to the orphanage where you belong!?"

I ignored her, tears stinging my eyes. I ate breakfast as quickly as possible, trying to avoid trouble. I rushed out of there when I realized something: Sonic didn't give me a schedule. I hastily dried my tears, and decided to look for him. You would think that it would be easy to spot a giant blue hedgehog. I was wrong as I spent twenty minutes wandering the halls, looking for some sign of the blue blur. I finally gave up, sat down, and tried my best not to cry.

I sat down and sobbed into my arms in dismay. I was lost, alone, and pissed that I got lost in the first place. As my tears poured down my face, I was barely aware of something orange approaching me. I was still pissed at the thought of being lost, and I felt something touch the corner of my face. I peeked to the side and I hastily dried my tears.
