I was late.
As always.

It was 5 in the evening when I got Maddox's text reminding me to meet him at the skatepark in half an hour.

"Fuck," I said as I jumped out of my bed to get ready.

I was wearing an oversized hoodie and some shorts when I got the text so there was a lot to fix in very less time.

I went to the bathroom to fix myself. I washed my face and did my makeup in literally five minutes. Finishing off with some mascara, I went to my closet, grabbed a crop top, a green flannel and some baggy jeans.

"Cute," I said to myself in the mirror as I hooked some chunky gold earrings to my ears.
I slipped on some converse and rushed out of the house like a bullet train.

The park was on Mulberry Street which was fifteen minutes away from my place and it was already 5:24.

Damn, I'm going to make a really bad impression on Maddox and his friends.
Eh, Maddox anyways has a bad impression of me so I don't really need to try when it comes to him.

I rushed to the park where I saw him leaning by the railing talking to two other guys.
I waved at him as I jogged in the their direction.

"Freckles," Maddox acknowledged, "you're late."
I noticed the two other guys standing beside him. One was big and filled with tattoos on his neck. He looked like he hadn't slept in days and the other was a scrawny dude with curly auburn hair.

"Yeah sorry my eyeliner got smudged so I had to redo it all again."

He squinted his eyes and looked pointedly, "You're not wearing eyeliner."

"Yeah, because I fucked up."

"Whatever, I'm never going to understand girls and makeup. Anyways, these are my friends. The big guy is Luke and this little shit is Sam. Taylor is out there skateboarding so you can meet him later."

"Oh, looks like he's coming here now," Sam said, looking left.

The first thing I saw was an earring. A dangly earring.

TAYLOR.
OFCOURSE.
"Natalie! It's going to see you again." He jogged upto us with his board in hand.

"Hey Taylor, it's good to see you too. I didn't know you were friends with Maddox."

"He forgot to mention me?" He looked at Maddox with wide eyes.

"No, I chose not to tell her," he said shrugging.
Luke snorted while Sam just waved us goodbye and went with his skateboard.

"So, Natalie," Luke said, "do you have any idea how to skateboard?"

"I haven't even held one in my hands so, no, not really."

"Freckles has a lot to learn."

"Aww, Maddie! It's so great to finally be your student. I've been waiting for this moment all my life!"

Ah, I love how funny I am.

Luke started laughing. I could literally see his face turn red while his hands held his stomach, "Maddie? Oh, Maddox this girl is perfect. I have a feeling we're going to be good friends, Natalie."

I could see Maddox's face turn red in embarrassment.

"Whatever. Let's go. I don't wanna be late and i think it's going to be a very long night." He looked at me.

He handed my one of the extra skateboards from the corner of the park. It was a black one with yellow lettering that said, "Don't take home."

Luke ran off to be with Taylor and Sam who were now flying in the fucking air with their skateboard.
