Stuck in a Corner

Sky teleports to the other side of the toilets. 'I don't get it,' she cries. 'I thought about Nana, and I pressed the button. What did I do wrong?'
'I don't know, Sky,' I tell her. 'But we will come up with something else.' Sky gives me my bracelet back. I get my phone out.

QuestioningHybrid: Teleporting out hasn't worked. Does anyone have any ideas?
SilverSeymour: We should regroup and discuss. Let's go to Mr Chandra's office- he allowed us to use it.
QuestioningHybrid: We're on our way.

'Sky, we're going to the headmaster's office. My friends are there; they could help.'
'Okay.' I hold my hand out for Sky, and she takes it. We walk out of the bathroom together and walk down the corridor.

Mr Chandra and my friends are waiting for us. 'Sky!' Anne cries when she sees us.
'Auntie Anne!' She runs over to Anne and hugs her. 'Auntie Lina! Auntie Jane! Auntie Anna! Auntie Kitty!' She goes to each of them, hugging them in turn. When she turns back to me, her eyes are full of tears, but she's smiling. 'Even if you can't get me home, this is the best day of my life. Thanks, Mummy!' Sky hurries back over to me and hugs me. 'Thank you so much.'

I feel tears sting my eyes. I made Sky smile. Hopefully, there will be plenty more times I can make her smile.

Mr Chandra unlocks the door, and we walk in. The office has cream-coloured walls, and the desk Mr Chandra sits at is massive. We all stand around the room, and Sky hurries to the window and looks out. 'Is that Earth? It's beautiful.'
'Yeah, it's pretty,' Clyde says. 'But it proves that we're a long way from home. Speaking of which, who are you, exactly?'
'I'm Sky Murdoch. I was born on the 25th January 1913.'
'Then you're far from home, too.'
'Emma's been worried sick about you,' Luke says.
'Who are you?' She asks.
'I'm Luke, Emma's brother.'

Sky nods, a flicker of emotion crossing her face, but it's gone almost immediately. 'I'm Clyde,' Clyde says. He holds his fist out for a fist bump, but Sky looks confused.
'I've disappeared in early 1998. There are some parts of human culture I would've missed.'
'Oh.'
'I'm Rani,' Rani says.
'Mummy talks about you all the time.'
'But we've only just met.'
'Oh, you're good friends in the future.'
'Okay. Sky, isn't your dad worried about you?'
'My dad died a few months before I was born.'
'Did he at least know you would be born?'
Sky shakes her head. 'He died nine months before I was born. She also mentioned something about the Titanic. Does it relate to my dad somehow?'

What the hell have I done?!

My friends glance at me. 'I guess Sky is older now, and she does have a right to know,' Anne says. 'But how would older Emma think? Would she want Sky to know?'
'Something tells me she'll want to tell Sky herself,' I say. 'I know mentioning the Titanic was risky, but it just came out because Sky said whatever happened in the past hasn't affected me yet.'
'I'll see if I can call Emma.' Anne gets her phone out. 'No signal. We have to deal with this on our own.'

'But you're not on your own,' Sky says. 'You have me.'
'I hate to break it to you, Sky, but having a kid around isn't going to help people. Maybe we should hand you over.' Rani says. 
'I have electrical powers, and the Judoon and Detex's scanning objects rely on electricity. If I can short-circuit them, it will take a bit longer for them to find me, and we'll have more time to come up with a plan.'
'We don't have time to come up with a plan. The sooner we get back to Earth, the better, and handing her over is the best way to go about it.'
'I promised I would keep Sky safe, and I'm going to fulfil my promise,' I snap. 'I will not let Miss Meyers get her back.'
'We have no choice! You might think you're high and mighty because you were once queen of England-'
'Going to be,' I grumble.
'But this is affecting ordinary people like my dad and me. We could die at any minute, and no one on Earth would know. The best thing to do is to hand her over.'
'Is it really the best thing when her mother is even more suicidal because someone kidnapped Sky?' Catalina shouts. 'Emma's spent the past ten years searching for her. Ten years, Rani! She's never given up, and we're not going to, either. We will protect our niece, no matter what.' Anne, Jane, Anna, and Kitty start nodding.
