She is flourishing
Miami, Florida
"You all are dismissed." The professor says.
Billie collects her stuff together and grabbed her backpack, being the first one who walks out of class. Her phone buzzed. She stopped in the middle of the hallway, every student walks past her. She sees a short message from Darryl. Asking her to be there on time. Billie looked up at the clock, seeing that she has thirty minutes left.
"Hey, Billie. The lesson about the mortgage and interest types got me so tired! Let's have lunch together." Billie's classmate Monica invited her.
Billie turns around. "Oh uh. I have something I need to do now. But let's have lunch tomorrow okay? I pay." She smiled friendly. Monica nods. "Maybe we can share each other's notes about today's matter."
Monica smiled. "Oh, sounds exciting! I can't wait!" Billie nods and smiled walking away from her. Monica sighed, gazing dreamily at Billie.
Billie stepped out of the subway and looked around her. She found the stairs and rushed down the station. She looked down at her watch, having ten minutes left. She runs in the direction Darryl told her. When she turns the corner she sees him standing in front of the closed gate with an older man in a not so glamourous neighborhood. The man is carrying a suitcase and has a suit on.
"Hey." Billie stands next to him, pulling her earbuds off. They gave each other a quick hug. Darryl glanced at Billie's neat outfit. She's wearing a pantsuit with underneath sneakers and her hair is up in a bun. He laughed all of the sudden. Billie rolls her eyes. "Dude, I have my job application soon. I need an internship for my study and this is a paid internship so I don't need to work extra. I need to look decent." Billie explains greeting the man next to him.
"You look good, Brenda. I just never saw you like this, you more dress yourself like-. You." He grinned.
Billie laughs reminding herself that Darryl just calls her something else. "I can do both, Derek. So-. Our new location?" Billie eyed the man, he nods opening the gate for them. The path leads to a small building, the building has two floors. There was enough space on the ground floor, something Darryl and Billie searched for. It was perfect in their eyes.
"There's a lot that needs to do in here. The electricity doesn't work, there's a lot of holes-." The man says.
"That's okay, we take care of that. For the price is this a perfect place for our-. Bakery." Darryl says. Billie chuckled looked around her. The man nods.
"Then it's all yours! We should sign the papers!" He smiled and turns around placing the suitcase and the papers on the table in front of Billie and Darryl. He reads the contract. "Brenda Marshall and Derek Thunder. The name of the bakery is, Cookie Monster." Billie and Darryl hold their laughs in. "Can I have your ID? Only for name clarification." They nod giving him their good-looking fake IDs. He nods. "Alright, everything is good my signature is already on there I need your signature on these papers and then the building is yours!"
