Amaterasu Ichiro P.O.V.

"It won't happen again" I say, bowing my head toward the principal. "I-indeed it won't!" The other girls father says, obviously scared and obviously knowing who we are. Father looks at me, and I nod. He's from one of the families below us. "Let's just leave it at this for now" the principal says. "My daughter has been through a lot lately. It's been a while since she's attended school. But I'll make sure she'll behave" I say. As I say daughter I hear the other father gasp, it takes all my self control not to smile. "Please do" the principal says. Both father and I stand up. "If you'll excuse us" father says. I follow him out of the office. Akiko is leaning against the wall, across from her is the other girl. "Let's go" I say. Akiko sighs deeply then follows us. I open the car door to let my father and Akiko in before getting in myself. "I expect you to behave yourself from now on" Father says as the car starts to drive. "This family has been going to this private school for centuries. I expect you not to sully this name. You're lucky we donate quite a lot to this school so they didn't suspend you" he adds. Akiko bows her head. "I'm sorry" she says. "The girl looked like she deserved it though" I say amused. "That may be" father says, glaring at me. "You should lead by example" he says. "It won't happen again" Akiko says. "Alright" father says. When we arrive at the mansion, a retainer opens the door for us and I let father and Akiko get out first again, before I step out. "If you'll excuse me" father says as he walks inside. Akiko seems disappointed so I place my hand on her shoulder. "Don't let it get to you. I've been in some fights myself when I attended that school" I say, winking at her as she looks up at me. "I didn't know you donated so much to that school" she mumbles. "Hmm it's kind of custom. You didn't think we'd let you attend just any school do you?" I ask amused. Akiko scoffs. "Like I care" she says. She shakes my hand from her shoulder, and walks inside. I sigh deeply. Damn you, Kaito. I put my hands in my pockets and walk inside myself.

"Any leads?" Father asks without looking up from the books on his desk. "Not to who did it, but they found it what accelerant was used" I say. Father sighs deeply. "Do you want me to put more men on it?" I ask. "No. That's alright. I'm sure they'll find the culprit. What about the books of the shops?" Father asks. "Every thing was in order. Surprisingly neat well ordenend" I say. "I need you to talk to the boy. Mikey-kun" father says. "Mikey? Why?" I ask surprised. "I need to know how he feels about being engaged to Akiko" he says. "Aren't they a bit young?" I ask. "To get married yes. But they seem devoted to each other, and he'll be good to her and both the family and business don't you think?" Father asks. "Yeah I do. I admit I have been thinking it myself but to engage them already?" I ask. "I'm not saying it'll happen right away. I just need to know" father says. "Alright. Leave it to me" I say. Father raises his head. Father sighs softly. "We already lost Kaito, Ichiro. I cannot lose her too. She has to follow in your footsteps, as you follow in mine" he says. "It'll be alright chichiue. She's here now" I say. Father nods. "Leave me be" he says. "We'll see you at dinner" I say as I get up, and leave fathers office. As I walk through the quiet halls of the mansion, I can almost hear the footsteps of Kaito and me running through these halls when we were little. It's my own fault that Akiko's weren't echoed here. But I'll make up for that. Akiko walks this way, with Mochi in her arms, seeming bored out of her mind. "A mansion this large can still be quite boring huh?" I ask. Akiko looks up. "I easily get lost here, so I tend to stay in the same places" she says. "Follow me" I say, as I walk past her. I smile when I hear her footsteps following me. "This is my favorite room" I say, as I slide open a door and walk in. The room is filled with large bookcases stacked with books. "Woah" Akiko says softly. "It contains everything from fiction tot nonfiction. That side over there is all dedicated to books about art, even tattoos" I say, smiling at her. "Of course you'll have full access to this, being my daughter" I say, and ignore the annoyed sound she makes. "I'm never going to be able to find this by myself again" she says. "Then ask for help." I answer.

"He said he'd do it, but when it happens he'd like involvement from the beginning, and he'd like to keep running Toman, and back up for it whenever it needs" I say, grinning. Father chuckles. "Cheeky kid. I like him" he says. "I do too."  I say. "Alright. Let's accept. I'll have a talk with the kid" father says. "Alright. I'll be retreating for tonight" I say. "Good night" father says as I leave. In my own room, I open a window and sit down next to it. I sigh deeply. Times like this I wish I still smoked... I take the pendant between my fingertips and look at it in the pale moonlight. I sigh deeply, press it against my lips before letting it go. I look up when my door opens and Akiko walks in, in her pajamas. She sits down across from me and looks at me seriously. "You still haven't told me your story" she says. "My story?" I ask amused. "You have no wife, no kids" she says. "I do have a kid though" I say, but she ignores it. "But Ojiisama is already talking about marriage for me, so it seems to be a tradition. What happened? Tell me and there might be a chance I'd one day see you as my father" Akiko says. I can't help but laugh. "You're a cheeky kid, aren't you?" I say. "But fine. I'll spill" I say, leaning my forearm on the windowsill. "I used to be married. That's where you came from" I say. "Then why did you give me away to otosan?" She asks. "Because your mother, your birth mother, died giving birth to you, and you reminded me too much of what I had lost" I say. This surprises Akiko clearly. "It was never meant to be forever though. But it was one of the conditions Kaito asked for. So I agreed, on the condition he'd always treat you well" I say. "And we both know that he didn't." I say. "If that's the case, don't I remind you now of what you've lost?" She asks. "You do. But I know how to deal with it now" I answer. Akiko stays silent for a long time. "I guess it makes sense" she then says softly. "It doesn't mean that I didn't love you, I did and still do. I was just afraid I couldn't care for you properly because I was grieving so much" I say. "Do you regret it?" She asks. "I do" I answer. Akiko then stands up. "I accept your apology" she says, and walks away. I can't help but laugh, once again.
