. . . . . . .

He doesn't know what he expected. He'd been through so much the last few months that it was almost routine to be interviewed by somebody.

After Endeavor's arrest, most of Japan had come to terms with the fact they had been supporting a villain. Praising him despite his wrongdoings. Celebrities and influencers that had supported Endeavor were making shallow apology videos and sending useless gifts to his family. Things like flowers and chocolates and company promotions that none of the Todorokis wanted whatsoever.

They had what they wanted, they were happy and Enji Todoroki couldn't get in their way anymore.

He would admit it was a bit weird not having bruises. Actually, he found himself searching for places where he remembered the bruising being, and he almost wanted to punch those places, trying to replicate the pain he was so used to.

His therapist had told him it was okay to feel that. It was a normal coping mechanism that many people who'd been through what he had did. Still, he felt a bit betrayed when she'd asked if his current caretaker could be informed that Shouto would be on self-harm watch. The teen still agreed.

School never went back to normal. He wasn't sure it would. There were people who had gone to UA because of Endeavor, because he had inspired them and motivated them to be heroes. Finding out they had followed in the footsteps of a villain couldn't have been easy. Shouto felt bad sometimes, but his classmates always convinced him he'd done the right thing. And for once, he chose to believe them.

Now were the news interviews and public statements he was required to make. The world wanted his stance on all of this like they didn't already know what it was.

"No, I don't hate my father. I think he's taught me a lot, even if his teaching methods were unconventional in more ways than one."

The interviewer nodded excitedly, she'd been all happy ever since he'd walked in. She must think of him as some celebrity.

"And do you think he deserves the sentence he received? Or do you think he deserves more than what the court ruled?" She tucked hair behind her ear and folded her hands in her lap.

He's been asked the same questions so many times it was becoming a normal part of his day. "I think some confinement will do him well, I just hope he receives the help he needs. He was a good hero, he deserves whatever mental help he can get."

"You're so wise! Did your father teach that to you as well?"

Shouto clenched a fist. What kind of question is that? 'Did your father beat that maturity into you? What age? Specifics? How many burns did it take?'

He resisted the urge to roll his eyes and instead took a deep breath. "No, I think it comes from my mother."

"Your mother, Rei Todoroki. She's still in a mental institution correct?"

"For now, yes." When is this shitty interview ending?

The interviewer folded some papers and cleared her throat. Her shoe had been tapping on the floor this entire time but now she lifted her leg and crossed it over her knee in the most ladylike way he'd seen. "And who has taken the role of your primary caregiver? There are rumors the principal of UA has taken over custody, and another rumor that one of your classmates' mothers has taken custody. Can you confirm either of these?"

Shouto shook his head. "I'll deny both now, and I'd like to keep my caregiver out of the news for now, for safety reasons."

"Of course!" With that, she continued on with the conclusion of the interview, and soon he was walking out of the set. One of the producers who had greeted him earlier informed him that his ride was here, waiting out front. He nodded and bowed out of respect, to which he got another apology.
