Chapter 6

Present

After waiting a while for Jin Woo in the ICU, she decided to just go to him, since her visitation time is over. As she is walking towards the corridor, she sees Jin Woo who is still on his call. He was mute for most of the time, and she silently move closer to him. Although Jin Woo was not aware of her presence. "Love you too" she overhears Jin Woo says to the other person on the phone.

"Oh, you are here" Jin Woo says as he notices Jin ah presence

"Yes, the visiting time is over" she proceeds to walk ahead avoiding looking at him. Jin Woo also follows her behind. "It is sad I didn't get to say bye to her" he made a side comment which Jin Ah clearly ignored. When they got to the car, he hastens his steps so that he will be able to open the car door for her.

When he got to the passenger side, he opens the door, which Jin Ah refuses to enter as she opens the back door of the car, and quietly sit behind him. Jin Woo was a little bit worried at her behaviour. Her sudden changed in energy towards him worried him. They are not no best friend, but he had thought they have made some progress.

The journey was quiet until Jin Ah suddenly breaks it. "When is she coming?"

"Hmm! Who are you talking about?" he asked

"The person you were on phone with..."

Jin Woo was not expecting this question from her. she has always ignored anything that has to do with Min Young. So, her asking about Min Young now alarmed him as he was not prepared. But he answers anyways "She just informed me that she will be coming earlier than expected"

Jin Ah kept quiet as she regrets asking the question. She had hope he would have said it was his mother he was talking to, but her suspicion is correct. Now not only did she just confirmed he say 'I love you' to her, but she is also coming sooner than expected.

"I want to divorce" Ji Ah suddenly says, which shocks Jin Woo. He thought they are over this topic already, why is she bringing it up again.

"We already talked about this Jin Ah" he says

"You made the decision" she screamed "you are the one who refuses to sign that paper"

Jin Woo hated they are having this kind of conversation again. Especially, when he is driving and could not face her. "Let talk about this later"

"There is no talking later. In fact, stop the car"

"I can't" he tries to deny her request

"I swear if you don't stop this car right now, two people will meet their death" she threatens which makes Jin Woo looks for a safe space to stop the car. Immediately the car stops, she steps out of the car and starts walking ahead. Jin Woo also got out of the car and follows her. The faster she walks, the quicker he walks behind her. and he could hear her murmur some things to herself "Soo Ah, eomma is sorry she couldn't keep her promise"

"Soo Ah" Jin Woo wonders to himself. A little bit of distraction almost got her hit by a car, thanks to Jin Woo, who quickly grabbed her, prompting them to both bend on the side of the road "I am sorry Soo Ah, your mother is sorry she can't grow with you" she kept weeping s she keeps apologising to her daughter. That was when Jin Woo realised 'Soo Ah' is a name she already gave to their daughter. All these while, he has been asking for a name, but she already have one for her.

"Why did she keep it from him then? Is she trying to avoid any attachment to their daughter?"

Past

"Hello, what should we offer you?" a waiter asked Jin Woo's mother, who is currently at Jin Ah's grandmother local restaurant. "Nothing, but can I have a word with the owner of this place?"

"Yes" the waitress proceeds inside to inform Jin Ah's grandmother of the visitor. Jin Ah's grandma came out looking at the unfamiliar visitor who is sitting at the corner in her restaurant. "Hello, I heard you are looking for me"

"Yes" she stood up and greets her. "I am sorry, but I do not know you" the grandma says. "I am Jin Woo's mother" she introduces herself. "Who is Jin Woo?" she asked as she make herself more comfortable. "My son, the one who impregnate your beautiful granddaughter" she answers her

"Oh, I am sorry. I had no idea. Jin Ah never told me about the father of her baby" she commented

"It's okay ma. I'm here to apologise for the carelessness of our children and to make things right" she proposed. "Jin Woo couldn't stop talking about Jin Ah, about how much he loves her and wishes to marry her, but as you can see, your beautiful granddaughter isn't cooperating" she says

"Why wouldn't she?" the grandmother was more of talking to herself

"So, I am here, as Jin Woo's mother to beg you to persuade your daughter to marry my son" she says

"I cannot force her; she might have her reasons" the grandmother argues

"As elders, we should help them be together, especially now that a baby is on the way. Also, I come her bearing gift" she picks out a thick envelope from her bag and gave it to Jin Ah's grandmother. "This is just for peace offering, I promise to take care of her" Jin Woo's mother say.

The grandmother peeped into the envelope, and she sees she has just been gifted money. This family is probably nice and rich enough to take care of her granddaughter. One of her biggest fear is that, when she dies, Jin Ah will be all alone, but seeing Jin Woo's family humbling themselves to ask for Jin Ah's hand in marriage. They must have love her a lot. She can finally have peace now and when she dies.

"Don't worry, I will talk to her"

"Oh, there is one thing left...can you please sign this document?" her personal assistant gave the document to the grandmother

"What in it, I am not very learned" she asked

"Nothing much. just things that will be beneficially to both of our kids and grandkids" Jin Woo's mother say. Immediately, the grandmother takes and seal and signed the document without the knowledge of the content.

Jin Ah is resting on the couch, when she sees her grandmother with bunch of bags in her hand. She immediately stands up to help her with the bags. "Where did you get all these from?" she asked as she drops the bags at a side in their living room. "Jin Woo's mother came to see me" she responded

"What?" she knows that Jin Woo's father knows about the pregnancy, but she has not heard anything from them since the DNA test. So, it is surprising to hear his mother came to her mother's restaurant. "What did she say?" she asked curiously. "She wants both of you to marry" she answers her

"I don't want to marry him though" she makes a side comment

"Why?" her grandmother asked. But she did not respond. She is not about to tell her grandmother how Jin Woo has always been disrespecting her. that will literally break her heart. When the grandmother did not get a reply from her, she then continues her discussion. "They are the one who gave me money that I used to get all these things. I think they are nice family, and will take care of you"

"What? You collected money from them!! How could you do that? What else did you collect from them?" she questions her grandmother, but also busy packing all the things her grandmother bought with the money. "I am going to return these things back to the store. Hand me the remaining money, I need to return it"

"I will not. Why should I return the money? I did not beg for it. Why are you so stubborn about marrying this guy?"

Jin Ah was so angry to the point that she left her grandmother standing and she make her way to Jin Woo's house. If there is anything label, she wants to avoid the most, that will be the money hungry, gold digger label. That is what Jin Woo has always thought of her, so collecting this money is only affirming his ridiculous prejudice about her.
