I'm sure you all know this, but let me remind you again, we are not perfect. If we are perfect, then the world would be perfect and the truth is that, the world is not. The definition of the word 'perfect' itself, isn't perfect. Our diverse population, cultures and traditions make 'perfect' seem 'imperfect' at times. That is the truth that some people need to face. That's just how the world was made.
This is why despite all the heartbreaking and exhausting remarks that Hyejin received from her parents, Hyejin would always try to understand where they are coming from. Even if in the end, she gets hurt.
"Oh you're back?" The monotonous words greeted her as she bows in respect to her mother, "Hurry up and cook. I got off work early today and I've been bored the whole time."
Hajoon grips the hem of his sister's shirt tightly as he hides behind her figure, hoping not to get involved and to just run to his room as soon as possible. His wishes were not answered when their mother pushes Hyejin away and engulfs the boy into a tight hug, "Hajoon my dear! How was school today? Are you hungry? Do you want to order something?" the elder woman babied the ten year old boy. The contrasting act made him frown as he did nothing.
He just wants to be with his sister.
"What are you still doing here? Get changed and prepare dinner." Hyejin scurries off, putting her backpack away in her room before heading to the bathroom to change.
The ice cold water tickles her body as she shudders at the feeling. The house had rules, one of them being that Hyejin could only use the cold water for showering purposes. Even so, Hyejin was thankful that she could at least drink hot beverages. She went on to clean her body, wanting to get out of the cold quickly. As soon as the towel fell upon her icy skin, she heaved out a sigh of relief and walked around the small bathroom to warm her body up as much as she could.
Her phone lit up with a notification from a group chat. Hyejin furrows her eyebrows in confusion as she picks up her phone to read through her unread messages.
