Regardless if Jaemin meant the words that he said earlier that night, the only thing that occupied Hyejin's mind is the fact that she wants to go to the river cruise. She smiles at the thought of the possibility of making new memories with her three classmates, daydreaming at how fun the night could be.

She snaps out of her daze when the door to her room bangs open, the force causing the mirror on her wall to shake a little. Hyejin quickly stands up and faces the woman in front of her who was crossing her arms in amusement, "Since when did you have friends?" She ran her tongue over her front teeth while Hyejin didn't know how to answer the question directed to her.

"They're just my classmates. We're doing a group project together." Hyejin's eyes are fixed on the ground, not wanting to see Sunhee's mocking face as she recites her daughter's words.

"I feel sorry that they have to hang out with such trash like you. Bet that they're just doing it for fun. I mean I guess it's a good way to kill time." she takes a sip of her freshly made coffee, gulping the liquid down before making a satisfied sigh, "I see that there's a particular boy. He shouted out some pretty romantic words back there."

Hyejin grits her teeth and her body tenses up at the mention of Jaemin's actions earlier on, "Don't talk about him." she courageously retorts out.

A sinister laugh comes out of the elderly woman, "Whoever he is, he won't stay for long." the shrugging of her shoulders shows just how little Sunhee cares for Hyejin.

Hyejin bites her lips to stop any sounds that could reveal how unsteady she is feeling at the moment. Her eyes are shut tightly, refusing to let any tears form or fall.

"When they leave you," Sunhee drops the glass cup on purpose as Hyejin shrieks at the traumatising noise, covering both her ears and kneeling down on the floor into a defensive stance, "you better not cry because I don't want to hear any pathetic cries. But I mean, if by some miracle that they stay with you, then I guess I'll be less worried when I kick you out as soon as you finish high school."

Sunhee steps over the scattered pieces of porcelain to Hyejin. She leans down to her covered eyes as Hyejin's breathing became more unsteady than it already is, feeling like she could collapse any minute, "Not that I care about you anyways."

Sunhee scans Hyejin's light deprived and old room, "Clean up a bit. At least something of yours shouldn't look like trash. And also," she points to the broken coffee glass, "Make sure you clean that up too." she singsongs before strutting out of the room leaving the girl alone with the deadly whispers inside her head.

Hyejin stays in her position for a couple more minutes before lifting her head up, trying her hardest to collect and stabilise her emotions. I guess that was easier said than done because as soon as she landed her eyes on the sharp, blue flower decorated pieces, she made another mark to her barely half alive wrist.

The amount of times that the pieces went back and forth was concerning. She alternates between both wrists, screaming inaudibly at the pain. The whispers in her mind controlled her whole body even though the pain was immeasurable. The sweet aroma of coffee that was spilt on the floor was mixed with the thicker red liquid and the salty river that endlessly cascaded from the eyes.
