tw! panic attacks
Before entering the crowded hallway, Hyejin made sure that her sleeves were fully rolled down. She unlocks her locker before a slight tap on her shoulder makes her turn around in shock, her hair slapping the person across the face.
The person grunts with the sudden action, rubbing his nose at the tickling feeling. Hyejin apologises multiple times before the boy chuckles lightly in amusement, "Don't worry, Hyejin. I'm fine." Jaemin puts his hands away from his face, tucking one in his pocket and the other grips his bag strap, "You didn't answer my question last night and so...I got worried and ran to you as soon as I saw you here."
Hyejin blanks out as she tries to remember yesterday's events. She stutters and apologises once again as she realised that she never texted the group chat to say that she was home.
"Come on. Don't apologise. People might get the wrong idea..." Jaemin said lightheartedly at the girl's actions, "I'm glad that you're fine. Want to walk to class together?"
Hyejin's mind was conflicted with the question; she didn't want to say no because it would seem rude, but she couldn't necessarily say yes either as she doesn't feel comfortable around people.
Jaemin seems to have picked up the girl's worry, his face growing red at the possible rejection, "Oh wait, sorry I forgot that I needed to be somewhere. I'll catch you later!" he dashes off to the other direction of their classroom.
His actions caused some people to look at him in confusion as Jaemin just gave an awkward smile. He finally finds a quieter hallway as he grips the window frame tightly at the previous event. His heart couldn't come down and his body temperature kept on rising to the roof.
Crap she looked so cute though.
Hyejin's mouth gapes open at the situation that was happening in front of her. She smacks her forehead at the forgetfulness.
She had forgotten to pack lunch.
For most people, that'll be fine. Just go to the crowded cafeteria where all the noise and gossip happens, and your problem will be solved. Well that was one problem, the other being that this means that Hajoon didn't have lunch either.
She contemplated not eating lunch just for the day but then remembers of the test that will be happening in the next period. She knew she couldn't let her social anxiety get in the way of her grades and so she went; to the cafeteria, to a highly crowded place.
Every step forward feels heavy for Hyejin but she managed to keep it under control as she queued up in the long line. In her head, she was busy reciting all the needed information to pass the upcoming test. A voice interrupts her train of thought, "Hyejin right?"
She looks up to an unexpected person and nods in response to the question, "Aerin..right?" Hyejin asked back.
Aerin nods in happiness knowing that Hyejin knows her name, "Cool cool. It would've been awkward if I got the wrong person."
Hyejin nodded to the statement and the conversation slowly died down before Aerin asked another question, "You close with Nana?" she flutters her eyelashes and puts on another layer of lip calm.
Confusion was clearly written on Hyejin's face, "Nana? Who's that?" she voices out the question in her head.
"It's Jaemin. You know, Na Jaemin and so Nana?" Aerin raised her eyebrows expecting that her explanation was clear.
"Oh." she took in the new information, "No. We're just partners for the group project and that's it."
They were now in the front of the line. The two girls made small talk as they paid and grabbed their food. "Well either way. Would you like to sit with us?" Aerin calmly asks the girl.
Hyejin shakes her head and declines politely. She knows that Aerin sits with a bunch of people and that was not going to go great with her anxiety filled mind right now, "I'm alright."
"Oh come on!" Aerin pushes, "We're not bad people. I have a big group and they would definitely welcome you with open arms."
Down the line, someone scoffs at the attitude of the pushy girl. She puts her phone away, ready to step in incase Aerin crosses the line.
Hyejin, as calmly as she could, again denied the offer. However, even though Aerin is a nice girl, she could not understand how someone would reject such an offer. Thinking that the girl might just be shy, she grabs Hyejin hands and pulls her towards the big table, ignoring Hyejin's obvious objection to the idea.
Hyejin couldn't understand why she was doing this and a tear almost fell before a strong force pulled her wrist away from Aerin's tight grip.
"Stop crossing the line, Aerin." Jaein sneers at the girl, "She declined you multiple times."
"Oh Jaein!" Aerin gives Jaein a fake smile, "She's just shy, right? Anyways, leave us alone." Aerin leans forward to take Hyejin again before two arms widens the gap between the two girls.
"Stop." Jaemin eyed the both of them, "What's going on again, Na Jaein?" Jaemin furrows his eyebrows at her.
Jaein scoffs at the interrogation, "Oh so you're asking me and not her?"
"Ok fine." Jaemin rolls his eyes to Aerin, "Aerin what's happening?"
Aerin didn't answer his question and just kept a glare at Jaein. Surely by now, the situation had everyone's attention. Hyejin's mind went into overload as she kept her head down.
"Please stop...' Hyejin voices out with the little courage that she had.
Her shaky and delicate voice caught Jaein and Jaemin's attention. Jaein knew something was up as she quickly devised a plan for a way to get her out of the cafeteria.
She knew that she couldn't just grab her and drag her out as she wasn't comfortable with direct touch and contact. Her eyes went to her dangling purse on her wrist. Jaein hoped she was doing the right thing before grabbing the purse and ultimately taking the girl outside of the cafeteria.
Hi everyone :) Finally had the courage to type in something. Hope you all are having a great day. Stay safe and healthy. Thank you for reading my book, I really appreciate it (⌒‿⌒)
