The Girl Next Door - Pietro x Reader

Chapter Eight

I clicked out of the security cameras. I couldn't see him anymore because he's my only weakness. He could stop me from completing my job and that is to infiltrate the Avengers Tower. That's my job and I can't get distracted.

I finished hacking into the Tower's systems and took everything offline. Then I went back onto the security cameras. Everyone was running around frantically. Then I saw Pietro. He was standing in the doorway to my room and Wanda was next to him.

(Pietro's POV)

"She told me she loved me." I said sadly.

"I know Pietro but she left you and now she's doing this. She's taking down the whole tower and-"

"You don't know it's her! Stop saying it is! What if someone took her she could be dead right now. There's still a chance it's not her..." 

I think that deep down I knew it was Y/n but I didn't want to admit it. She's not the girl I used to know anymore. She was sweet and caring and now she wont stop until she gets what she wants and that's to take down the tower.

I thought for a moment and remembered the apartment that I went to yesterday. I left the doorway to her room and walked out of the tower then headed to that apartment.

(Your POV)

I'm not dead...

I saw him leave my doorway and I thought about what I was doing. This is wrong but I can't stop because I told Hydra that I could get information about the Avengers. Screw Hydra...

I was about to pull the plug on the mission but I heard a knock on the door. I walked over to the door and opened it. I didn't even think to look out of the peephole first.

"Pietro..."

"You're not dead?"

"No... I'm not dead..."

"Then why won't you answer my texts or calls?"

"Because I can't have people knowing where I am. Especially the Avengers."

"Wait... so it was you? The whole thing with the tower... that was you?"

"Pietro-"

"Yes or no? Was it you?" 

A tear fell from my eye and I looked at the ground for a moment then back up at him.

"Y/n..."

"Yes it was me but-"

"I can't believe this. And I trusted you!"

"I'm sorry... I never meant to hurt you."

"Never meant to hurt me? You made me think I could trust you, tell me you loved me and for what? Just to leave again like I never meant anything to you?"

"Pietro I do love you-"

"Then why did you do this?"

"Hydra told me to!"

"You have contact with Hydra? You told me you were done with them."

"I was- am. I am done with Hyda."

"I don't believe you."

"Pietro-"

"No! You lost my trust the minute you left."

He left the apartment and slammed the door behind him. I sat down in a chair, put my head in my hands and started to cry.

After a few minutes I walked over to my headset and told everyone that the mission was off. After the Hydra agents were out of the tower I put everything I took offline, online again. 

I ran out of the apartment and to the Tower. I walked in but I was stopped by Wanda.

"You." She said.

"Hi?"

"You are an awful person did you know that?"

"Yes I was aware. Where's Pietro?"

"You don't get to see him! You broke his heart. Again!"

"I need to talk to him!"

"Why? So you can fix things then leave and take down the tower again?"

"I called it off! Everything is back online and Hydra doesn't know anything about the tower! So can I please talk to Pietro."

"Fine. He's in his room."

"Thank you."

I ran up to Pietro's room and walked in. I didn't even knock before.

"What do you want Y/n?" He asked.

"To tell you that I called everything off. I put everything back online and I'm not expecting you to forgive me or anything I just thought you should know... I'll just go now..."

I walked out of his room and down the hall a ways then bumped into someone.

"I'm sorry I wasn't looking where I was going and-" I said while not looking up from the ground.

"It's okay. I forgive you."
